    [PvP Idea] Castle Siege?

    Basically an idea from a few games I played. Short & Simple.

    72 Players!!!
    3 Grand Company castles/towers/fortress/etc...

    Players must fortify their Grand companies fortress and while trying to capture the enemies Flag at their fortress. Players try to breach and fight their way to flag!
    It could be a fun Capture the flag with Traps, A-Rank boss spawns to protect fortress or cause havoc, and different areas to attack from.

    I'm too sleepy to go unto deep detail but that's just the short version of it.

    I felt bad since no one even responded. Gc and large battles are two of the large contributing factors to the current PvP issues. Sooo no. Kbye.

    Looking back at the original FFXIV 2.0 docs we got outlining the plans for ARR, castle siege was exactly the type of PvP we were supposed to get. Not frontlines. Early on Yoshi-P talked a lot about how much he loved DAoC and how he wanted to bring us that type of PvP... Really no idea what the heck happened besides taking the path of least resistance in terms of development (AKA just building a giant free for all arena-map with zero siege).

    This was the original concept art for our big PvP map.



    I still feel ripped off when I think about how boring frontlines really is. They need to spice up PvP in general.

    Yes please, good GOD the amount of hype moments in TERA's castle siege PVP.

    There is nothing quite like getting on a ship with like 5 people, sneaking behind enemy lines, murdering like 9 people on the way inside, and ending the match before the enemy team can get their shit together and react

    To be fair frontlines is actually pretty cool, but it's not quite the style this game is best for.

    I think 24v24, with 6 groups of 4-man parties, split up between a siege-type setup, more focused on smaller battles and objectives instead of crazy war-like encounters would be much more effective for the way XIV plays.

    Give us multiple paths, force us to split up. Make it MOBA style, almost. It would be godlike.

    To each their own I suppose, I just feel like Frontlines is a heap of wasted potential. It feels cool because it's so massive (72 players), make it smaller (24) and it feels significantly less epic. Of course a mass of nearly 100 players trying to wipe eachother out is fun, but it's chaotic and simple and oh my god that freaking tab targeting please fix it for the love of god.

    The way he originally described Frontlines was a persistent map. It wasn't something you queued up for, he said you would have a warning notification before you entered the zone that it was a PvP enabled zone. We were told everyone would be able to contribute - DoM/DoW obviously, but also crafters and gatherers. He made it sound very much like GW2's WvW, it seemed like it would be server vs server, not GC vs GC.

    Maybe his dreams were just too big. Lol.

    eh...what ? 72 ? for a siege pvp ?....unlimit number pls. The weak side (out number) can have buff, and make it 24/7
