Yeah, that's why they're focusing so much on additional stuff for the paladin to do in the expansion. They straight just don't have that many attacks or other actions to worry about. So they're giving them more!

I use to find paladin boring but after I got my Shiva shield I was blocking so often that I loved it. I find fun in pal when I take less damage. I still love war because of the big damage

I think what turns people off from Paladin is the lack of additional activities that other jobs have more of. I enjoy Paladin for it's strength in defense. The amount of cooldowns is more so than other jobs and managing those cool downs is part of the job. Where one would say they enjoy a job for the damage output, I enjoy Paladin for it's hate and damage mitigation.

I know it's all opinion but calling out a single job as boring and berating it is not entirely cool. Stick to objective observations rather than criticizing and putting down based off what you think others should enjoy more of.

I like both Tank roles, (and DRK soon too I hope) but I prefer PLD over WAR simply because of the sheer number of defensive options PLDs have. Most people seem to only care about being aggressive and think damage and attacking is everything. They seem to forget that there are more calm people out there who'd rather take a different approach instead of just being as aggressive as possible. Plus, PLD's will be getting more options to work with in attacking anyway come Heavensward, so yay to that!

So... I disagree with you OP. I have more fun as a PLD then I do as a WAR~

You definitely sound like a Paladin.

I had to do this before but apparently people just like addressing points that no one is bringing up. NOBODY is saying that PLD needs to be more offensive or aggressive. All that's being said is that they are a very passive class in how they function. The cooldowns that that you have to 'manage' are almost all the same in that you pop them to take less dmg and that's it. Skills that don't require you to think more than just deciding you need to stop being hurt now are not very engaging. They even basically gave them the same skill twice with rampart and sentinel for godsakes.

When my raid team sucks, I use Pld, I found it's a good RTS over VOIP. After my friends are being better, I use War, I found it's a good RPG instead. Got zeta on both jobs, love them both. But a tired day after work, Pld is preferred, hope 3.0 won't change that.

Not that I don't find WAR fun mind you. If I'm feeling more... aggressive on a particular day, or if I just feel like having change of pace and want to wield an axe instead, I'll go WAR.

I don't think I mentioned anything about me complaining about people claiming that PLD needs more aggression to it. I was more just generalizing about the aggression part. Last I checked, that's why WAR exists, for those not interested in the passive nature of PLD.

Last you checked? Um, where is it stated that anywhere officially that defensive = passive? Why can't the paladin be actively defensive where they have abilities that require them to plan ahead, or trigger off each other, or allow them to perform different functions under different conditions or situations?

Paladin tanking is the exact same more or less from the time you get flash at level 8 until endgame, because most of your abilities are just defensive cooldowns that don't require different strategies or planning that vary much between situations. Or very niche skills that basically have to have fights tailored specifically around them to be relevant.

So that's why it's not engaging like WAR is. It has nothing to do with offense or aggression or anything like that. Which is fine if people like that. The point of the thread if I understand it correctly is that many ppl are turned off by the fact that one of only two tank classes in the game is pretty cut and dry mechanically.

Sounds like you're actively trying to be offended by everything I say. Typical forums. I'll make this my last post.

I sense confusion at what I'm saying too. What I meant about passive and aggressive when I brought them up is that PLD, by looking at how they function, shows them to be more graceful/traditional in maintaining defenses where as the WAR is more about throwing out so much weight that the enemy can't ignore that guy wielding the axe with such might, thus the aggressive part of what I was talking about. I wasn't referring to how active PLD's and WAR's are with their abilities with that last post, which is what this thread topic is about though.

Are PLD's easier to manage on defense cooldowns? I do hear that a lot, even though I have a relatively easy time managing defense cooldowns as a WAR too. WAR just requires you to think a bit more on when to employ your defense buffs.

Sorry you apparently don't like PLD like me. Different strokes for different people.

EDIT: The ONE thing I did agree on though with everyone else is that PLD's DO need a few more attack options. I mentioned it in another thread that the fact that the PLD only has one 3 step combo to work with right now, that happens to be the aggro generating combo, is kinda meh. I make up for this by having Fracture carried over on my PLD if I feel like I'm building too much aggro as an OT, but that only does so much. :/
