To me, he can spam flash, then use that combo that applies debuff to enemies to keep hate on foes while restoring his MP. looks like a good AoE tank for adds.

I'd rather see flash to establish initial enmity, then Darkside to inflict more damage, establish more hate, and kill mobs quicker, and then restore MP during downtime. Any use of flash beyond securing hate over the healer seems like wasted enmity that could be done with DRK skills that do damage, especially considering that flash, untraited, doesn't apply blind.

Keep in mind they are reworking cross class skills for all tanks, so we don't necessarily know what the cross class will look like for heavensward.
That being said, i don't see them not getting flash.

iirc they have an aggro generating MP-based AOE skill of their own, so I don't know why they'd bother using a crossclass for Flash especially when the Blind isn't even attached to it.

Also I'm not entirely sure what you're worried about, OP. WAR is already AOE king, you're not going to pull off a Unchained + Berserk + IR + OP spamming WAR. If I see a WAR head into a trash pack on PLD, I just turn on SwO or try to get one of the bigger mobs on me. I don't really see what will be different with DRK, even if they're somehow more of an AOE aggro monster than WAR.

To the main topic, I'd say it's up to the players. I see some bad tanks and good tanks in my experience and its really up to their skills.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Darks don't get flash. Flash is a light spell, and they've restricted cross-classing for abilities that are too good for some classes. Like thunder.

They've already said dark Knight will take gld and mrd crossclass skills.
They didn't remove thunder as a crossclass from SMN, they removed it as a crossclass period.

But really, the whole idea that they COULD flash about 14 times still doesn't change the fact that it would be retarded to flash that many times. What would be the purpose? So you can hold hate off a pld? Is that really an issue?

Aoe hate only needs to be generated enough that you maintain all the mobs, anything excessive is unnecessary fluff.

They also said they are reworking all of the tanks crossclass skills, so it is up in the air as to how that will work out.
