Just for clarification, using this system will not remove the item drops, therefore you can use this feature to obtain minions, equipment for glamour, and the items needed to upgrade Zodiac weapons.
Additionally, there is no item level sync, so you'll be able to enter content at the highest level and item level.
On the other hand, if you are looking for more of a challenge, then you can use another feature which will sync to the lowest level set for that duty.
The development team is looking forward to seeing how everyone will use these new feature to create your own unique challenges and group events. They plan on using what they see as reference for future development.

Honestly I don't like the story at all and I don't agree that you should need to do quests to unlock EVERYTHING in this game.
Like I can't do Odin on my alt because I can't unlock the quest. I've been backtracking to find the quest I'm missing but I just can't find it. The info i found on the internet tells me some prerequisite quests and I've done all of them or can't find them.
This is the problem with the quest gating, it's such a hassle just to unlock the one fight, which is a quest on its own. I don't understand why I need to complete a couple of level 48 quests to unlock it.
However, although I don't like the mainquest I can see why it gates some content.
I kind of wish there was a way to unlock things for all of your characters.
So say if I'm done with main quest on my main character, my 2 alts should have them unlocked too.
Because how do you, lore-wise, explain that all of my characters were the chosen one and they are all having the exact same conversation with everyone, they are all doing the same fights.
My main character killed ifrit, garuda and titan, why are they alive cause I made new characters? They all live in the same world

Actually some people have. If the story doesn't grab them, and they're playing for the story, they usually leave.*Again, this is an arguable point because some people value lore far more than others. But in my personal experience, I've yet to see anybody say they'll be quitting the game due to the lore being inaccurate at points, but I have seen people quit because of the MSQ restrictions (usually in the crafting scene)
They just don't tend to make as big a deal out of it because, again, they're not in it for the mechanics and many understand that you can't just rewrite a story to fit your needs.
But people who like the mechanical stuff DO believe that the mechanics, no matter what they are, can always be changed.
Which in some cases is true (like raid drops) and some cases just isn't going to happen (like "true" sandbox gameplay)
Well the topic is amusing. I enjoy this game due to the story and due to the friends I play with. I raid for the story - excited that we are entering T12 soon(yeah real life and stuff making it hard to consistently raid as a group and we like to go blind in and learn the fights on our own without guides) - the shinnies are something I might or might not obtain.
But yeah people have different motivations for what drives them forward. We loved the Edda storyline - we have one guy who basically skips everything but Hildibrand story - he acted all panicky during tam tara hm the first time reading the folios since he was the only human male in the group so would have made an ideal candidate for that body
But even he will ask about the story or lore behind things that interest him. So there is a bit of everything for everyone. Just show consideration towards all in how they wish to enjoy the game.
As for the OP specifically I doubt coil will lose it's progression so t5 and t9 would still be required - just because there is story there. I could imagine them ungatting the EXs from each other just because there is no story there(there's a tidbit on the first 3 but I kinda have a feeling it went down a dead end).
I don't really know what to say to this. You contradict yourself a lot. "I'm not lazy, but I don't want to have to do this thing."
The lore states exactly why Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan, are still around and even explains the mechanic behind their returning every time you decide to run those fights again. That said, unless you're talking alts on other servers, the devs probably don't understand why anyone has an alt on the same server in the first place, seeing as how you can literally do everything in the game on one character.I kind of wish there was a way to unlock things for all of your characters.
So say if I'm done with main quest on my main character, my 2 alts should have them unlocked too.
Because how do you, lore-wise, explain that all of my characters were the chosen one and they are all having the exact same conversation with everyone, they are all doing the same fights.

As for "being the chosen one" there's a cutscene near the beginning of the game where you first meet Hydalyn, and in addition to your avatar floating around the crystal, there are other adventurers floating around it with you. You aren't "the chosen one", you are "one of a chosen many". To a certain point, if all of your characters started in a different city state, they technically aren't all talking to the same people until you leave for the first time.

I love the story in this game.
However the whole "why can't we unlock everything without playing the game" or "how come we can't access end game before end game" comments make me wanna head desk into oblivion.
The same reason why you start in FF VII always in the train station if you choose "new game", with Aerith alive, regardless where you are in the story on your oldest save file.Because how do you, lore-wise, explain that all of my characters were the chosen one and they are all having the exact same conversation with everyone, they are all doing the same fights.

starting the game on a fresh new character = starting the game fresh at the beginning

Hi im one of those people that dont play for the story line, i personally think its well rather unintresting. That being said i dont play for the loot either, since i dont raid at all. Alot of people in this thread are calling us out because we dont care about there story and you know what we get it, Final fantasy is a story driven MMO. Some people at least in my group of friends play simply because they enjoy the gameplay, much like a previous poster said he plays for crafting, i just play to enjoy killing things on my warrior or whatever job i feel like playing that day. I like the combat its not fast paced like WoW or Tera and doesnt feel to clunky like old republic. Id wager most of us who dont like the story are like myself and the poster Genjoe, its simply other things we enjoy in the game that keep us playing. It would be nice if the circle jerk thats going on realised just because you dont like the story doesnt mean you dislike the game.
As for the Raider and story comments ill remind you of the Interview by i want to say SE with BG about there turn 5 win, when asked what they thought of the final cutscene there response was "dont know we skipped it". They probably didnt but seeing some of the comments in here makes you think lol.
I wasn't saying the quests be removed they should simply be optional instead of mandatory to unlock everything in the game. That way people like you who enjoy the lore can and people like me can just skip that and go right to the fights. Apparently the ones who don't care about the lore should go to another game as said by you lore lovers. This sounds very whats the word I'm looking for arseholey? to me. I'm not trying to be that way so why are you guys? Just make all these quest gates optional so lore lovers can happy and so that the rest of us can get to next fight already. Okay so 99% don't skip the cs I may have exaggerated a bit but I'd still say its at least 50/50.
