I'd probably cap it at 20 per primal. But yeah, something like that. To make it happen, just include it in the achievements like the Warrior bear and Paladin lion. Can't argue that. So, if they did something like a fail-safe; do ramuh ex 299 times and haven't won the pony lot? Well on the 300th you'll get a token that will drop only to you that will let you redeem it for the pony.
Is that something you'd like? I don't know how possible that is to develope. But when leaving feedback it's good to try to leave solutions to the things you don't like. Which I think you tried to do, but they have been misunderstood.
This game ABSOLUTELY needs meaningful and long lasting content if they want to maintain subscribers. I know everyone wants things to be easier and faster. They wan't to get to the level cap really fast so they can whack on the loot pinata more. But SE really needs to not go the route WoW went and streamline everything to death to the point you just sit in your garrison and queue up for LFR.
If people wan't that kind of mindless content, please just let them crawl back to blizzard, and let us have a super awesome game that I know Yoshida is capable of delivering to us.
I have been playing on Exodus for year, and would say the population has steadily grown. Places like Limsa Lominsa and Mor Dohna seem packed. I have been playing MMOs since UO and all I see right now is exactly what you expect pre-Xpac. Why grind for anything right now? People take breaks Xpac launches expect an explosion, you will see people you have not seen in while. On Exodus, in my FC we went from 80 active members at peak times to 11-20. Two of our four coil groups are suffering attendance issues due to burn out and lack of interest as well as resentment and arguments that have broken out due to lack of progression frustrations. The only thing keeping some of the more advanced players in my group going is trying to beat Titan EM which only 2 out of everyone in my FC has been able to do (and they were tanks). Can't pass turn 5 either. Not much left to do and people are getting frustrated or wnadering off for longer and longer periods of time. I have a feeling that 2.2 will be gobbled up by the player base majority rather quickly, leaving them content starved yet again. It seems to be feast or famine with this game so far. I like the game still but it's tough to play without friends or quality players to get through end game content.
I cut this down to where I think you accurately describe the problem but come to the wrong conclusion. With all my years of running guilds and leading raids across multiple games, I feel VERY strongly that it is none of the games, the successful games are actually ALL really good, including this one. IT IS THE PEOPLE WHO PLAY THEM. I retired from leading raiding guilds, people can be selfish, lazy, entitled, arrogant, condescending and elitist far more often than they tend to be generous, selfless, kind, receptive to instruction and patient. I run a small Free Company with people I LOVE, if we can't get it done through DF it is not important. None of us need the shiniest, best pixels covering our characters, we had that, know we can do it if we want it, it offers no incentive or challeng,e only the inclusion of drama, no thank you. My best advice is only allow people into your FC that are of the highest possible character, the kind of people willing to give of their time and resources. Accomplish what you can with them and call it good.We had the numbers to form an FC, so we did. Some of us formed a static coil group. We were successful and had coil down to farm status. Some others were also successful, but at least half were not. We quickly found ourselves in a situation where some of us were happy with farming coil and developing our characters together, while others felt left out. Incidently, there was literally nothing we could do for them other than guide them on TS and Vent while we watched them attempt coil and other content. That didn't work out too well. Many of them just felt betrayed by our group's success. The situation devolved into hostility over time, and a sense of resentment towards us built. People we had known for as much as 10 years left our FC and decided to go at it on their own. They didn't last long with PUGs and within a month, unsubscribed. Our FC, now broken, merged with another FC that were suffering from the same challenges. We tried to get people more involved this time round by mixing and matching strong and experienced players with those of us who were less skilled and with less wins under their belt. The result was catastrophic. More resentment grew as the splitting of the static resulted in some of the members feeling less motivated to play. They logged on less, and felt that having to run others through coil and repeat the same painful learning experience was unfair. They argued for a return to the old group, and to let the weaker ones fend it out for themselves. As leader I tried to talk 5 groups into reason, but while a person is reasonable and fair, people are generally selfish and irrational. The amount of personalities and different priorities in the mix resulted in a slow deterioration of friendships, and forming of new alliances and loyalties.
"I don't know why it won't let me post a thread, but instead of figuring out why, how about I just bump this one from over a year ago and use that." Makes perfect sense! The funny part is, this wasn't even originally an "I quit" thread. Honestly if you're gonna quit, then quit. If you're not enjoying the game anymore then by all means move on to something that you do think is fun. Coming to the forums to post an "I quit" thread (or rather, necroing an old thread to re-appropriate it into one) is basically just seeking attention by bashing on the game and you have to expect at least some people that read it to react negatively. People that really want to quit just fade away.My account is still active and I'd have started my own thread but as I stated before it wouldn't let me. And so far I've not argued against anyone else's opinion, called anyone a name, or told anyone what they actually felt. I merely stated why I have left the game as this was the only thread I found related to players who quit and more than anything I want SE to start giving more to the players who give so much time and money to them.
Ortamus, they mentioned they are adding more loot rolling options. While that doesn't fix everything you don't like, it may be worth it to just take a break and read the feedback on the forums to see if it's a change you like that you'd maybe come back for.
If you do come back and need an fc, as long as you have a wide sense of humor and could transfer, the one I'm in would be happy to welcome you. If not, happy gaming in whatever game you move on to.
I actually like that someone necroed this over a year old thread. The OP comments that the game is dying, people are leaving in droves, Dropping like flies, the game wont be sustainable in the long run, DOOOOM! GLOOOOM!
Yet here it is today, even during this pre-expansion lull the game is alive and well. Servers are over crowded, I get queues within 15min (even as DPS). Sure some people left, it wasnt the game for them. That's their prerogative. But if you judge a fish for its ability to climb a tree, it will forever think it is a failure. The game is what it is and many people are enjoying it and more keep on coming.
I for one have been very happy with the pace of patches and the content of them, I enjoy the world and its visuals, I love that there is always something to do. Even I take breaks once in a while, I had a two week stint where I didnt have time to play, but I keep coming back. I think the biggest issue when the game started up wasnt the game, but peoples expectation of it that cause them to be so upset. They wanted an MMO that more resembled a mix of 1.0 and FFXI but this game is a big departure from those games, and I welcome it. If it was the hardcore, grindy, open world, no focus, boring game that FFXI was, I would have quit long ago and today we would have the same amount of players in this that we did with FFXI.
Keep up the good work devs and dont listen to the naysayers, if you stay the course then the right people will like you. See you all in Heavensward!
Already explained why, not going to again."I don't know why it won't let me post a thread, but instead of figuring out why, how about I just bump this one from over a year ago and use that."
