Not really. I recycled (past tense, since I have the Mastercraft II books for most of my crafts) those for FC3.
Lucis will probably be made easier by then.Yah, thanks. I was debating that. I have 3 of my crafts to Lucis (w/ fully melded Artisan's Gear). I just wanted to catch up some of my other Crafts from the base AF Main Hand Tool since we have a few weeks before HW.
But I'm pretty sure HW 3.0 will have new Main Hand Tools again for all Crafters. I just don't know if they will *require* us to be at Lucis Level to then reach the new 3.0 Tools or not?
Thanks.

why, cant he try to HQ the supra mats either way? The chance might be lower without the artisan's tool but he has 8 attempts to get 3 HQ items before he would have to waste additional mats.

Look at the post he's responding to. That person (Silent Abyss) decided to upgrade all tools to Supra before attempting ANY Masterbook II items, unlike the OP (Kiara Silvermoon) who is trying to decide whether or not to upgrade to Artisan.
Silent's posture is that any NQs that result can simply be recycled into Fieldcraft III Demimateria, so why not upgrade your tool to make them easier to HQ? This is true - but it's not an ideal solution. Every token requires two FC3s, and you only get one FC3 back when you recycle. The ability to recycle HAS made FC3s a lot cheaper than they used to be, but they're still pretty pricy! (And to forestall any debates on buying versus creating, by "pricy", I mean either in terms of time taken to desynthesize your own, or gil spent to buy them from the Marketboards.) Silent clearly has the resources to burn - the OP may not.
For a lot of young crafters, scraping together the money to pay for FC3s, or taking the time to desynth for them is taxing. However you look at it, NQ tokens created post-Supra are a waste of a FC3. Crating the tokens pre-Supra gives you a chance to avoid that waste, since you can spend them on the Supra.
Lucis are gonna be the new low level tools once hw 3.0 kicks in. At the end of the quest lvl60 you MIGHT get a new tool and a piece of gear which probably will be much higher than ilvl55 AF. (I'm guessing ilvl90? Maybe?) So with that and a new crafted artisan offhand you will be able to do master 1 and master 2 without the hustle of spending money and time on doing lucis when you might get a free update.
Now if the lucis gets a new step going to higher level (105) it would be totally worth getting more lucis. But so far have no info or whatsoever .
I believe actual classes are gonna jump from ilvl55 to 155. Could this happen to crafting tools? Like from 55 to 155? Might be getting confused.
Anyhow if my theory of getting a new primary tool on end quest is right, it will mean lucis can be Bin lol

imo if there's any crafting gear you want to leapfrog it's the Artisan Offhand.
6 Sealants for each. Need only 3 sealants for Artisan/Forager's Leftside gear, and that's shared between all classes, opposed to Artisan Offhand that requires 6 each and only good on one crafting class.
Even if you have the Gil to eat the costs of Artisan Offhands, that same amount of Gil could have been put towards twice as many Artisan leftsides and be sold for profits.
IDK....
Its easy for me to HQ the items for Supras, all BiS and fully melded save for the tools. And NQs are brainless to produce.
I don't expect to ever get another artisan's tool save for the weaver's which I will promptly desynth.
