Steam price for Heavensward in BRL discrepancy

I've always felt bad for those outside the US, having to pay more (and with the increase on taxes added to online purchases that was recently added in Australia). But, I guess the US is bit of an outlier when it comes to video game prices. Pretty much everywhere else it's higher than what Americans typically pay.

I don't think SE set the price and I'm not sure that there is anything they can do about, especially this close to launch and early access.

Steam games are not taxed like console games in Brazil. Every other Steam game got a regular price (even ARR). It's clearly SQEnix or Valve mistake. Not anything to deal with taxes and government as already pointed above.

a 40$ game should not cost almost the double the price of a triple A 60$ game , this is what is happening , with the HW CE price we can buy 2 triple A game and 1 FFXIII , no joke

Someone on Steam (sorry I don't know which nickname you have here on SE Forums) talked with Steam Suport and got this answer:

I just talked with an agent from their chat support, he said it indeed looks like an error after i showed him the others games prices and the psn blog post. He said he couldn't do anything right now but he would escalate it to be investigated better.

Also posting in the official forums should help a bit, since the community managers and game masters often read and reply people posts there.

So it's means that is SE's mistake on price, 'cause if was Steam's mistake they could fix the price right after this conversation

probably nope, but they can talk with the responsable during the talk and give the answer, probably the responsable told this to him. Wasn't me that talked with the agent, I only copy here to show that we have one answer from one side, having to wait the other one.

Thanks for teaching us that escalating an issue is the same as controlling sale prices.

Anyway, updated the OP with info that further indicates there's something actually wrong with the pricing, since PSN folks reported that the price is as high there, but their release "blog" states actual sane prices.

From what I understand, Brazil is apparently a horrible market for importing video games. They have a ridiculous number of taxes, tariffs, etc. they have to pay.
At least that's what i hear, from an article that mentioned such back when Nintendo announced they were pulling out of Brazil.

Well so it was a mistake....

But here, what he said is no less true.... 3rd world countries like ours are used to ripping ppl off with imported stuff.
I live in Argentina and I have the exact same problem, if you import a physical copy of the game, you have to pay outrageous custom taxes (and pray no one from custom office or the mail steals it) and it'll take 3-6 months to arrive average.
If you buy the DD you have to pay the goverment tax of "purchases made abroad" (cough 35% cough)....so my Heavensguard expact actually costed me USD 60 + 21 tax = USD 81
