By removing that particular security check? I've played in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Jakarta with the OTP key and have never been forced to change my password for having different IPs due to having the OTP app. If you're too lazy to type in a quick 6 number password (you've handled a calculator before right?) and a muscle memory password, maybe you should redirect your accusation to yourself.
Don't forget you get a small bonus of having 1 free location for teleporting as well if you are using the token(either software or physical token).
You aren't paying for an ingame advantage. You are paying for better security on your account and as a bonus you get a free teleport.
Sounds to me like he did buy it just for the free teleports. That's the only reason I bought it too. I played on just ps4 at the time and wasn't the least bit worried about a keylogger or anything.
Get a one time password token (or app) and you will never have to change your password for this reason again. This security only effects people who are not using a one time password, and you should really be grateful that it's there. When I purchased my token it was $9, essentially the cost of shipping, not sure if that's changed.
The distinction is only a formality.
I'm paying money. I'm receiving the ability to play on any computer with the game, the security of others being unable to log in, and a small advantage. What you call it doesn't change what it is.
And I am abusing the crap out of it.
I've been using the same token since it launched for XI and have never regretted it. Entering a second password has never been a hassle because it's not. For the peace of mind of never being hacked I have not once considered not using it. I'm more worried about when mine finally dies than I am about losing the in-game bonus from it, it means I will need to remove it while I wait for a replacement to arrive leaving my account exposed.
