Asked Yoshi-P about the possibility of adding mini games to Eorzea. Similar to what's being discussed here, he agrees that the idea of adding mini-games is really interesting, but currently there is a lot of other work that needs to be done first.

However, feel free to keep your ideas coming.

Thanks for replying, I fully understand, along with most other players, that the dev team has quite a lot on their plate at the moment. While we don't want to rush them or anything like that, it would be great to have something like this slated for work sometime down the road. But please, be sure to convey that we don't just want a couple minor mini games tossed in at random, we want something like the golden saucer in FFVII, a full fledged entertainment center for mini games, choco racing, cards, etc. A place where all the adventurers of FFXIV can kick off the dusty boots of battle, crafting, and gathering, and socialize/play, whether it be solo, with friends, or while meeting new people. It's not in any rush, so tell them to take their time if they do decide to do such a thing. But please don't forget about it completely, it would be so fun to have such a novelty in an MMO for once.

I love texas hold 'em, it's teh best thing ever to come out of texas. :P

Make the deck of traditional cards look a little final fantasy-ish, and it would fit right in... just replace the old suits like diamond and spade with stuff from the ff world, like crystals and swords, make the face cards stuff like tonberries and goblins, and presto, and call it some cheesy rip off name like uldah hold 'em, and presto, lore friendly texas hold 'em.

That would be so fun if you could play that in FFXIV, with gil wagers no less.

A giant town dedicated for games. everything from chocobo racing, snow boarding, card games such as parley, tetra master and triple triad. arena for challenging monsters and stuff. shooting gallery for bows and guns.
