Well, to be fair, each city/state should have its own minigames.
    Uldah = Casino type games
Gridania = Archery Minigame (Sort of like the gathering minigames but with wind speed and direction in effect) Frog Capture (Catch as many frogs as you can before time runs out.)
Limsa Lominsa = Duals (First person dualing with Pirates, Winner take all, etc.)
I really like this idea, it gives each city-state much more differientation.

Either that or someplace really cool, like the Gold Saucer where we can go and do a thousand different fun things, to earn costumes, cool items to help in battle, pets?

Gridania= band minigame, you can rent out and play instruments similar to those LoTR videos.
Limsa Lominsa= surely something involving the bars? or stirring up sentiment like the FFXII "Basch Lives!" Minigame.

It wouldn't fit in the MRD guild lol... Think BIG... Like, this place should be the size of a small city. The old golden saucer was more or less it's own city, so something like that would be cool. Maybe have an airship route to it from Ishgard or something. I mean, I guess you don't really want it to be so big that it takes over as the highlight of the game or anything, but I really don't want it pushed under the rug like those game tables in Jeuno were in FFXI.

And to the guy who said their shouldn't be PvP choco racing, I don't think you got exactly what I was thinking. It wouldn't be like a fully interactive chocobo race, it'd be similar to how it was in FFXI, except instead of racing against AI sponsored choco's, you'd race against other players choco's... It'd still be AI jockey's doing the actual racing though, you'd pretty much just set up your various stuff before the race like with the item or harness that you give it, and most of the player side work would come from raising the choco to be a good racer.

Anyway... I knew I wasn't alone on this idea, but I'm surprised by how positive the support is lol... Hopefully someone over at SE starts pestering the team to think about something like this in the future. :X

It's funny, i was talking to some of people in my Linkshell about how the game needs some raw fun.
I like the idea of a Gold Saucer (or something like it) on XIV. Specially since very few mmo's (or rpgs in general) today are implementing mini games.

The controls might be a problem for some pc gamers though. that is unless there is a different and specific control setup for minigames.

For instance. let's asume there's a chocobo racing minigame (with obstacles)
a nice control setup would be:
"Z" for turbo "X" for jumping and you move with the directional arrows.

then use the same setup for all minigames...
    just a crazy suggestion

Asked Yoshi-P about the possibility of adding mini games to Eorzea. Similar to what's being discussed here, he agrees that the idea of adding mini-games is really interesting, but currently there is a lot of other work that needs to be done first.

However, feel free to keep your ideas coming.

I fully understand the point made here, you guys have a lot on your plate and the list keeps getting bigger and bigger. But, I feel that FF is one MMO that can draw on whole lot of extraordinary mini games, that frankly other games cannot. In both FFXI and FFXIV, for some players, there is a significant amount of down-time in between battle with others and doing some solo gathering/crafting. Often times when I log on, I want a break, not from FFXIV, but from the normal routine. Other times, there are just short breaks while waiting on people to do a dungeon for example. Either would allow some very interesting minigames, gambling in Ul'dah or Tetra Master with random people waiting at camps.

But, I would just like to say, an in-game Tetra Master never made it into FFXI. Even though there has always been a resounding want on the part of the players, it was never really implemented. You could almost bring FF8's card game directly into FFXIV, and it would be a great addition. I just really hope that you guys embrace the community on this one
