Hi, developer here. We accidentally confused the other 8 quadrillion "I wanna make SE aware of rmt" threads, assuming they were about Really Modern Turntables. This particular thread stood out and is the first one we've ever read about rmt and taken seriously. You've opened all of our eyes here at SE to the problem in a way that the other 8 quadrillion people before you failed to do. It was probably because of how eloquent and comprehensive your post was. We are now going to eliminate the problem by next week, all because you were brave enough to come to us with this problem - knowing that you were basically just spamming about spam you went ahead and did it anyway and every player and dev will be eternally grateful.
^That what you're expecting?

Quite uncalled for really :/ If people stop making these posts and shut up about it SE may assume everything has worked out and do nothing at all in the future.
Everyone is tired of these posts but everyone is also equally tired of damned RMT spamming us in a game we all pay to access.
When in doubt, assume sarcasm
It's not new justification.. It's the kind of mindset that causes us english speaking to look like fools. Creating thousands of threads about the same thing, esp because "omg if there are that many threads it means its a more serious problem". Where as people in say JP create one thread, so that its, oh idk more organized? SE knows about these problems ok, they have logs, they have a system that tells them about all these events. It's why they have periodic notifications that go out to us via loadstone, saying hey we've banned/suspend all of these accounts for RMT activity. They are aware, and taking action, and have been sense the very beginning.
I'm glad you removed the links OP, as I logged in at work specifically to report your post. Regardless of the intent, I will always report RMT ads both here and in game, whenever I come across them. Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one who does. By posting the tell on the forums, you are giving the RMT a free advert.
I've stated this before in another post, but I'll say the same here too. Report in game messages and friend requests as harassment. The NA/EU reps seem to deal with it quicker than filling it under the other option (where I assume it gets sent to the mountain of work that the 3 man task force have to deal with).
Using the harassment option, every tell/friend bot I have reported has been dealt with within half an hour of my report (probably nearer 15 mins, but I'm giving room for error on my part as I haven't timed it). They copy/paste reply I get (usually up to 5 mins after I witness a /say bot being killed) also states that it is safe to remove that bot from the blacklist, so I can only assume that the account has banned outright. Any more bots will cost the sellers another account.
*rereads OP*
I'm glad I haven't had to deal with lv1 party invites.

...ah! My condolences.
While people are still buying, they can afford to create more accounts. It's that simple. For the most part, the buyers got what they wanted. They don't give two flicks for the rest of the player base that they are pissing off by continually supporting RMT. They probably don't even see it as a problem. They don't care about the game they themselves are ruining. The same goes for botters.
My current server is... quiet for the most part. It has picked up slightly, but I'll be dammed if I'll let them get any more of a foothold, or reason to feel they can be more brazen in their actions like what they seem to be on other servers.
I would love a quicker way to report these to the NA/EU reps so they get dealt with there and then, instead of hassling the task force with, when they are dedicating their time to working on another part of the problem.
Editing this post rather than creating a new one:
Just do add a time frame to my '1/2 hour but probably nearer 15 mins' remark above, I reported the spam bot I just found under 'Report Harassment' at 18.51 GMT+1. It vanished before it turned 18.52 GMT+1. I got a reply from the mods at 18.57 GMT+1. Granted, the time frame may change depending on the mods current workload. Still dealt with pretty swiftly imo.

The RMT spam is the only thing I really dislike. Hell, it makes me not want to play any more.
And before someone says, "just edit your tell tab", I can't because I don't like swapping tabs and I use tells often.
There's an infestation on Balmung, now? o_O Granted, I haven't been on my Balmung noob in a few weeks, but last I remember I got maybe one every few hours... utter heaven compared to Couerl and other less populated servers at their -peak- RMT days... of getting one or two every so many minutes (1-5 mins).
...
If this is true, then we're all doomed. *Creates RMT bomb shelter*
They're probably working hard on it as we speak, no need for another thread like this...
I hope you understand that it's pretty much impossible for them to stop the RMT players completely, unless they want to make it harder for normal players too... All they can do is make it harder for the RMT to actually annoy people. That's not the easiest to do without making it worse for everyone else too. They could make options for /busy, to only block tells of people that aren't in your friends list, FC or LS, and then have a white-list on top of that, so you can add other people you run with.
Other than that, it gets a little more complicated, and you can be sure that the RMT will find every possible way to annoy you.
My server (Phoenix), have one of the most effective solutions to the problem... big population. I think it's pretty hard making new characters, because I haven't gotten a single friend invite from RMT for weeks, and I get like 1 /tell a week right now(I play less now though). Never got party invite from RMT, and don't think I've ever seen RMT spam chat. But at the same time, other players can't make a new character either(I assume, or Phoenix have some secret lol). I think a lot of the solutions will face similar problems of affecting us normal players...
The only sure fire way to deal with RMT is for players to stop buying there gil. Sense that will never happen, then RMT will never go away. Don't blame SE, blame the players, they are the only one at fault.
