Looks like alot of changes are coming to ARR to make it faster and easier to progress through the story and experience 3.0 and the new jobs. I hope that helps OP. After playing through 2.55 i can see how just giving us the jobs at level 30 would not make sense since every 5 levels we need to go to Ishgard to do quests.......... i'm sure these quests include spoilers from the main story. I'm glad the dev team has made it easy for alts AND new players to get into 3.0.

Just confirm or correct exactly what the deal is - we still just have one random interview correction on a third party site. That's totally unacceptable!

A new/returning player should know, up front, that they are paying $40 for a new race, and that everything else is locked behind 300+ quests, level 50, and lots of level 50 dungeon/hunt grinding to get geared enough so they can duty find the trials. That should NOT be a surprise.

A new player is expecting to play the game. It is not surprising in the least that you have to level in some way to achieve the class you want. All Final Fantasy games are like this in some way or another if they include a class system.

The most this would affect is a returning player, who wants to hop to a new job, but hasn't cleared 2.55. In that case, guess they will just have to play the game a bit more to experience what they want to experience (like we all already did), tough luck huh?

Also, the devs HAVE responded and people on here have tried to explain that to you. I doubt you will get a dev response to this, since it has been covered already and is considered common knowledge to current players.

Just a few weeks left.. It'd be awful nice to have a simple dev post in an official first-party place that confirms this so that all the folks who don't spend tons of time on gaming news sites and such can be informed!

I can't wait for the swathe of people on early access/release day who are expecting to have access to more than just the race for their $40, and have almost no way to know otherwise..

Losian, please stop asking for a Dev post confirming the restrictions/requirements for Heavensward content. Do you not read what other posters are telling you? Bayohne already made an official response to these questions on the forums during his translation of the Live Letter. Several folks have given you links to that post from Bayohne or quoted it to you. I can only presume that what you're demanding is a 'special' response, just for you, here in this thread, because THIS QUESTION HAS ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED OFFICIALLY! Not on game sites but here. I'm sorry if the gating of the jobs, new MSQ, and new areas behind 2.55 is a problem for you, and I understand your concerns. But, as a long time player of XI and of XIV since 1.0, if I was just coming now to 3.0 as a new player, I wouldn't be at all surprised or put out to discover I couldn't be a DRK straight off the bat. It's just how XI and XIV work

I kinda skimed through this so correct me if I'm wrong, but what I'm understanding is... You want to play the expansion jobs and not have to do the main story to unlock them? But I mean... If your going to play the game you might as well do the story, it's really not that hard and all... That's like me saying I want this end-game (insert whatever floats your boat item) at level 30. :/

I dont know what the OP wants since obviously yoshi-p, the director of the game, going on record in official interviews and stating the answer to his question is not enough.

So once again. To get access to ishgard and the new jobs you have to have completed all of 2.x main story line and have a lvl 50, DoW/DoM.

It'd still be *really* nice to get a simple and concise dev response on the definate nature of access to the majority of 3.0. I think it'd really be super lame if it was just left to total silence all the way up to release.. Gonna be a lot of disappointed people, they should be informed what they can and can't access for their $40!

I like to think that maybe, just maybe, it hasn't been stated besides the one random interview correction because it's still somewhat up in the air, and not to boost sales and mislead people about the expansion. I know some pages say "certain progress" is required, but "certain" doesn't translate to "all" to much of anyone. Level 30 and job unlock would also be "certain progress." Just be clear about it, on an official forum, from a dev.. none of thise thirdy party he-said they said nonsense. It needs to be crystal clear and front facing so *everyone* knows it, not just people who happened to see that interview or browse a certain third party site.
