50-60 taking as long as 1-50

So, Yoshi-P confirmed in an interview (Translated) that leveling from 50-60, will take as long as from 1-50.

"This time, you'll learn new actions every two levels, so the way you play will be changing frequently. What was the intent behind this?

Yoshida: It will take about the same amount of time to get to level 60 as it did to get from level 1 to level 50, so with the new actions learned every other level, it will still feel familiar to the progression as before."

I don't know what others expected, but from what I've heard, it feels like most didn't expect it to take that long.

So this thread is simply to discuss your thoughts about this decision.

I personally like it, because it will actually give you time to experience the new areas and whatnot, and gradually learn new abilities. The problem comes with people who play a lot of jobs (I have most at 50, but mostly play 1 at a time), and leveling up all your jobs will take some time....

dont forget 50h of Main story quests , im happy because leveling in FFXIV only happens ONCE , once u level 1 job u wont be doing this quest EVER AGAIN (outside alt characters) , because alt jobs are leveled doing dungeons, fates , leves ect.

this is a themepark mmorpg , so the longer the ride the better

With story quests and challenge log etc, you will probably have lots of stuff to do, and I don't think it's going to be too bad when it comes to farming. Little worse after the first job.

Until people start getting their Dark Knights and Astrologians to 50+, queues for dungeons could be a problem though (for DPS ofc)

I hope that isn't 30 hours of fetch quests and only 20 hours of actual story progression (looking at the FFXIV's 2.0 storyline here).

You've been the Gopher of Light fot a long time now. I don't think that our character's sometimes overly-altruistic nature will deviate that much.

1-50 wasn't too long to be honest! Can be done in less than a week if you have enough free time.
It's going to feel very long though because new main quest :c

"I know you probably have more important matters, but could you please travel across the world and bring tea to my friends. I would do it myself but I have better things to do, but you are used to slaying primals, warrior of light, so this task shouldn't be too hard for you!"
I kinda wish I could decline these kind of quests and do the ones after

I think it is alright. We have to figure and also get used to the new skills to apply it to our old rotation as well. So I say we probably have plenty of time to practice it.

I assume the first 2 jobs you bring from 50 to 60 will most likely be a breeze but after that you will most likely end up grinding on fates again which I personally don't mind

Seems a bit excessive for what amounts to 5 new skills. There's not going to be a whole lot of new stuff to really learn, and most of your job will still revolve around your older skills. Bear in mind that once the story is done, it's done. There's no repeating it for additional experience points for any other classes you might have.

It's nice that it won't be an overnight grind, but it feels far too overblown for what you're ultimately getting out of it. Given that not all of the job updates sound particularly good to me (some even seem counter to the job they're designed for), some of those classes are going to feel more grindy than ever before.
