I want to play with my girlfriend but character creation restricted

I recruited her but she can't make a toon on Hyperion since it's closed. What can we do? I don't want to start a new toon somewhere else..

Two options; wait for an opportune time to make the character (it isn't closed all the time) or start a character on another server and then transfer it in to bypass the restrictions.

Option one requires patience and a bit of luck. I found the best times were either right after maintenance, or very early in the morning during the week.

Option two requires a little bit of time and some money. You have to get rid of the green leaf and then pay for a transfer through the Mogstation.

Sure would make it easier to...I dunno...recruit people to the game. But nope.

SE is trying to spread the player population out evenly through all their servers. So, it uses a rather outlandish system to do this.

This is the full list of server reset times.

At those times, the system automatically checks how many players are online. If there is over a certain amount of active players, it closes off registration on that server. Essentially, the best times to create a new character is at 11pm PST or 4am PST, probably on a weekday. It's tough, but that's the fastest way to get your GF in the same server.

Unless you created a character on Hyperion because you have friends there, I'd recommend starting over on another server. Right now, you're only level 19, so it'll be easy to catch back up. I know that's not an ideal solution (or even a good one), but it may be more worthwhile.

Actually, those times are just when the Lodestone website updates its list of which servers are open or closed. The servers themselves are continuously updated and their actual open or closed state can change minute by minute as people log in and log out.

I'm not sure what the threshold number is, but the logic basically says that if more than X number of players are currently logged into the server, then you can't make a new character there. If enough of those people log out for the total to drop below the lockout threshold, then character creation is opened up again.
