You know, it wasn't all that involved that it couldn't be done in a game that predated this one by nearly twenty years. This idea that instanced, individual housing is so complex and difficult that there's no way they could implement it and instead, every other convoluted wall-o-text idea would somehow be EASIER is just insane.

No, but for SE to implement instanced housing now would mean that they would have to handle 2 different types of housing systems in the game.. That's what makes it complex. Easier to build from nothing than to change something already in existence to something completely different..

I buy that, but isn't that kind of their fault that it ended up this way? I mean, they didn't have to release it. They really didn't have to. So to use one terrible mistake to justify not fixing the terrible mistake is incredibly unprofessional. Besides that, half the entire game consists of instanced content. They can put us in a dungeon, they can put us in a mog house. For now, I'd just settle for them at least acknowledging that they understand it's still an issue, and more than that, WHY it's an issue (not that we're just too lazy to make gil nonsense).

Believe it or not, the players *in general* are reasonable. they came back after 1.0 failed so miserably because YoshiP came to them and said "I understand why you left, and this is my plan to make it better" and then he did it. And players returned. And now the population is HUGE because of it. The game is successful because of it. Then, somewhere along the way, missteps started to happen. And now here we are with systems that are still clunky, unbalanced, and some are downright broken.

I believed in YoshiP and this game, but lately it just seems like no one cares anymore. That's a terrible feeling to have. It doesn't make me want to talk this game up to anyone who asks how it is when I tell them my mmo is FFXIV.

It definitely is.. I think SE just works on a very deadline emphasized schedules and having already delayed it a couple times, probably felt pressured to just release it as is..

I think they just don't want to make any promises at this point to give false hope, so their development decisions just remain secret until it's REALLY finalized, so who knows, they might have a few plans up their sleeves, just don't want to let us know lest they fail to deliver again.

They really are, I feel like any of the player hostility "issues" are shaped by the inherent game system.. The hostile behavior over house prices, selling smalls for 30m+ etc.. It's all because the system shapes what we do.. I say issues in quotation marks because that kind of cut throat environment could be a desirable one depending on game design. It is definitely a mismatch to the typical FF14 game style, but there ARE some games that foster barbarism of worse nature

Well hopefully they have something up their sleeves they're working on.. I'm sure they realize the problems they have, it's pretty damn obvious if they care to look. But admitting fault does them no good, it could just raise unreasonable expectations and ti announce any plans at this point could do the same, so time will tell what happens from now on.. Hopefully after the EU data center gets moved, they upgrade their servers or something, I hear the servers are remnants of FF11 era hardware.. So that could be why they're so worried with server load.

Btw, I'm not defending any of SE's decisions with the game nor the direction the game is heading at this point.. I'm just sticking around to see what the expansion will bring about and hopefully it gives enough of a distraction for me that I won't be bothered by the lack of side attractions, hopefully HW does something big, I'm 50/50 on that tbh, it feels rushed but who knows, maybe they've been burning some midnight oil to perfect it before release.
