It's probably the most glorious combat gear this game has yet seen.

Let's not forget we're talking about purely single-target damage potential here.
It's not hard to find a BLM that can do the ST rotation perfectly.
Perfect BLM and BRD single-target rotations result in very, very similar DPS, and it shouldn't be surprising at all to see the BRD pull ahead at times.
*shrugs* It is what it is.
It's rare to find BRDs that capable, though.
The first time you meet one it'll likely blow your mind.
Edit: Also that gear looks way better than the new AF they showed during the reveal video
I do sort of want to see it on another race or without the silly hat-mask-thing first though before I pass judgement...

Hmm, you can't really see the details on the robe, I'm hoping its as intricate as the SMN AF robes were. Lots of detailing make it really pop.
I'm still saddened by the BLM masks though, I understand they're thematic but...I just don't like them sadly.
That staff is also much worse looking than the Stardust/Lilith rods, which imo are one of the best looking weapons.
Thanks. Yah it looks pretty sweet.
I'm just bummed that we're going from i135 to... i170 already?!
Yoshi P's Vertical Progression jumps are too severe IMHO. It's going to end up like WOW, where they have to squash all the numbers / stats back down. By 3.5, are we going to be like iLevel 250? It's ridiculous.
It depends a lot on if the bard has a lot of crit. They can pull some really good numbers with over 600 crit and with crafted they can get over 700 crit. In a fight like t10 during adds and having dots on multiple targets they'll get like a bloodletter proc every gcd skill lol.Perfect BLM and BRD single-target rotations result in very, very similar DPS, and it shouldn't be surprising at all to see the BRD pull ahead at times.

Thank you finally someone who understands what i was trying to say, lolWell, if you compare a bard playing their class perfectly you must compare to a BLM who is playing their class perfectly, in which a BLM should always come out on top.
And then there are those random speed kill strats like T10, in which a BLM should always come out on Top.
I'd also say that Good melee can be outparsed by great BLMs. Being outparsed by a BLM doesn't mean the Melee is garbage, it just means the BLM was great.
And to the person who commented about maybe against a "scrub" melee, well no offence but if you could only do more damage then a scrub melee you really need to learn to be a better blm
im not a seasoned BLM but I like the class though. Does this mean when under enochain and we get a fire proc. we should save the proc for when atral fire is going to expire to reset the timer for astral fire instead of using it immediately?
32 different permutations of proc (40%) and no proc (60%) with the probability of each being (.4^p)*(.6^(5-p))
The number of actual procs you do get is equal to the number of procs - the total number of a series of 2 procs in a row + the total number of a series of 3 procs in a row - the total number of a series of 4 procs in a row + the total number of a series of 5 procs in a row. Sum up this number with its respective probability and you get 1.51.
It's about the total number of procs per cycle, not the total number of available procs per cycle.
The adjustments for fire weaving and using fire IV from here aren't too bad. I think people will be disappointed in what the numbers actually say though.
That's including the proc from the 5th Fire, and unless you wait for it you'll be in the umbral phase when you use it, and it will hurt you more than help you.32 different permutations of proc (40%) and no proc (60%) with the probability of each being (.4^p)*(.6^(5-p))
