Disciple of the Hand saving grace if you ask me, on all fronts.
And DoL comes one more step closer to extinction. Seriously, why don't they just eliminate the class already? Half the stuff we gather is ALREADY obsolete. (Except fish of course.)
That said, I'm glad crafting is becoming more accessible. I think the people who have most to lose will be the ones who grinded for hours and spent millions and MILLIONS of pointless dirt money (aka: gil) leveling under the old system. Hate to burst your bubble guys.
EDIT: But I might be able to make another mil off NPCing all the things I used for parts. Man, those NPCs got most of my stuff though from the removal of mats for repairs.

If they are going to dumb down that much might as well:
Remove all tool, you don't need those to craft, just craft whenever you want
Remove all crafting attribute, you won't be restricted by stats
Remove all crafting clothes, why do you want to be restricted by stat
Auto-craft and bulk-craft, why do you want to sit and craft something, have AI do it for you
Aww heck, might as well let our Companion craft while we go kill monsters on the field.

I am inclined to agree that this is a bit too simplified...
Reduction in the parts necessary to craft gear is nice... but completely removing them will cause issues in what people grind for skill... as well as create an abundance of supply for key pieces of gear that people will find to grind after certain things become obsolete.
This will necessitate an overhaul to the entire item system. Which isn't really a bad thing if they do it. But until they do it, it mostly will create alot of redundancy and useless items which will only exacerbate the current inventory problems.
That being said... I'm still in favor of the all of these changes if it means I don't have to be a blacksmith of rank 40 to make a sword that is rank 26.

Abolishment of Parts from Synthesis - Fantastic
Revisions to Materials and Intermediary Materials - Fantastic
Removal of Secondary Skill Requirements - Fantastic
Removal of Crafting Facility and Treatise Requirements - Fantastic
Simplified Color Customization - Fantastic
I'm just hoping they change SP for creating items now, since the best way to grind out SP on DoH was just making parts.
Is it just me or does anyone feel like the real problem with crafting isn't any of the above but the fact that pressing the action button 30 000 times just isn't that fun?
I know that fishing in XI was the slowest to lvl but when the Fish did bite I felt like I was playing a game.
