So I stopped reading after the first couple pages as most of it was rehashing the same stuff.

I am a DPS main, but have leveled my war as well. As a DPS, marking targets kind of sucks for us, not sure why you disliked when tanks did not mark when you were a DPS. It makes AoE jobs shy away from using those AoEs, thus leaving us twiddling our thumbs half the time. Also, as a DPS I target you before you pull, then just click on your first target as my first target. This part really makes marking a target redundant to me. I do this, and I just assume other DPS do it too.

As a WAR, I ran in and pulled closest target with tomahawk, flashed the group if running to another set of mobs, then overpower 2-3 times on the entire group when I was ready to stop and kill stuff. Then I just do enmity combo on each mob rotating until they died. More overpower with blms in party of course, so allow them to do there thing. This is just basic, you toss in other CDs and such as well, but that was all that was needed to gain and maintain agro from the trash mobs in a dungeon.

The only time I marked trash mobs were when I wanted a specific target dead for some reason (like not letting it turn into an aevis in snowcloak). Otherwise, why mark when I was just going to AoE things anyways. I found if I marked a target in lowbie runs whms tended to sleep other targets and used fluid aura and such, really annoying when you planned to AoE them all.

So as a DPs ,that also tanks, that is my advice. If any of that was said past the second page already, this is a redundant post (just like marking!)

People like Rath here, if well geared, will make you cry if you don't know how to hold aggro on multiple mobs and/or if your gear is vastly inferior to theirs.

Other classes to watch out for are well geared Summoners, Dragoons (especially if the DRG has everything off cooldown) and White Mages in some cases, usually when throwing a few heals on you before starting a Holy spam.

Actually, if you read my post, I target the tanks target. If that tank is using aoe aggro, I will aoe. If they are marking single targets, I do not. My point was that as a war I do not mark as I aoe and expect the dps to do the same.

I didn't mean to be offensive, just to give an example how it usually goes in dungeons with high AoE potency DPS, not many BLMs would settle to use single target spells, and if they do, they most likely don't approve of it.
