    Still want to know where this 1.6m came from. You post a specific number, but all this post is guesses of what it may or may not be.
    Oh good grief... not this tired and beaten horse again. This was flushed out well over a year ago... much was lost in the translation, and even when they tried to correct it, they still didn't get it right.

    What SE had actually been saying was 500k active daily logins. Not paid subscriptions, but they averaged around 500k players logging in daily. Here is another interview done at the same time:

    It's the second question in the interview, and here is Yoshida-San's response:

    Others more skilled in translation have more appropriately translated that he was talking about daily logins, and here is what comes up when you plug it into Google Translate:

In terms of the number of people you are logged every day , it is about 500,000 people worldwide .     Notice the wording there...the number was about how many people are logging in daily and NOT about how many paid subscriptions they had.

    Note that those were severely outdated financial figures as well. It was based on data from roughly 6 months after the relaunch, and the interviews were taking place almost 9 months after those reports came out. Basically, they likely didn't have up-to-date subscription numbers on hand. What was more likely to be more readily available would be a stat like daily log-ins, as they were still wrangling with capacity issues and such--so they would be more up to speed on how much stress is on their servers (ie: how many people are logging in daily).

    I agree with you OP. The community is what brought me to the game. And now, it is exactly what is driving me away. Hopefully, Heavensward changes that. But honestly, it's been so bad that if I didn't get a good deal on the pre-order, I'd of probably quit altogether. Gonna hold out and hope for the best, though.

    100% with you OP I remember hard overworlds and even enjoying them, and if people are so angry about it being hard, you always have your faithful chocobo at your side to use if you feel the need, Personally my Chocobo is lvl 7 almost 8 because I don't bother bringing him out as mobs pose absolutely no threat in current game.

    Also hard overworld was not what made 1.0 bad, 1.0 had many underlining issues that people seem to have forgotten like the severe UI lag we suffered and classes being so damned broken half the time what I do miss about 1.0 was the absolutely HUGE and beautiful area's that we got to explore and getting through the danger was half the fun, I mean the first time I travelled from Gridania and we made it to Uldah desert and seeing the city in the distance it was breath taking and a very tough journey but the wow factor was real <3.

    In that same interview they stated 1.8 million if I remember right. Should be in the English transcript I linked to.

    People who don't want this keep acting like this will 100% require you to group up for everything, it likely won't, all it means is mobs can actually be a threat if you aren't being careful and the only thing they said 'might' require a party is the beastman areas which makes sense and should be that way tbh.
    Even still with each patch new gear will come out that will nerf the content naturally, as well as being level 60 on top of that, with many more abilities to work with.

    it had everything to do with it. it catered to a niche group, and when everyone else didn't play they had to fix it.
    No, not really. 1.0's problems didn't have anything to do with a 'hard' open world... it had to do with an 'empty' open world, very broken game systems, and quite a bit of other more serious things.

    Lol, you just confirmed exactly what I said. The 500k was from over a year ago in an early 2014 report, not 2015, and someone above said it was logins. So my mistake on that being the old sub numbers since they were logins, but still everything else still applies. I copied and pasted the following in quotes from your link. I even bolded where it says 2.5 million registered. Now fast forward a year later to this year when SE announced we have over 4 million registered accounts:

    "Updated: These MMO figures actually come from an original financial report that was filed on March 31st, 2014. Square Enix tells MCV that the actual number of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn paying subscribers sits at 500,000, with over 2.5m registered users. These numbers do not include the game's performance in China, which charges Chinese gamers on a per-minute pay model. A Realm Reborn will launch in Korea in 2015."

    Basically, they kind of flopped on their update by taking info from a 2014 report and saying SE tells them it's current, yet SE announced different. So either they are lying (which I doubt), or they made a mistake on their update (more likely) by accidentally repeating the mistake they corrected in the first place, or the mistake or misinformation is on SE's end since over 4 million conflicts with 2.5 million. And like I said, no that number was not random. It's taken directly from Lodestone via sites like xivsoul and others. The guessing part comes from whether it is that number still or higher because people that have looked into it say that it shows less than what we have, and xivsoul will not finish it's scan anymore when I go to the site. So I'm going off active players from end of 2014, which I'm sure is a lot more than 1.6 million now with Gold Saucer and Heavensward bringing many back plus many new players, and even more so if it's true that it shows less than what we have in the first place. And if that's true what above poster said about how we use to have 1.8 million, then it further confirms how much 'less' xivsoul shows than what we really had.
