Need, Greed-Glamour, Pass -> Suggestion

A small suggestion that i think would make people a bit more happier with the game, with places like Crystal tower, you are constantly farming to get better gear, soldiery, poetics, etc .

Say you are a...WHM/SCH, let's go with that. You are in your 7th run of WoD for the day and a piece of healer gear finally drops that you need, you say "great, i need this" and roll need, say hmm a 88 , so you are pretty confident, you also recognize the other healer is in much better gear (A.Poetics/dreadwyrm) so you are pretty sure you got this.

The other healer rolls 97 need, and gets the item. You feel disheartened, you know it's an MMORPG and the end-game grind is part of the game, so you casually ask "Why did you need that, if you don't mind me asking?" They reply it is for glamour, you understand glamour is a valid reason for rolling, and then continue to grind WoD again and again not seeing it drop for a few days.

What i am suggesting is, if there was someway you could implement a mechanic that could detect if you have better gear already, so that even if something for your class drops, you could only press "Greed" or it would change to "Glamour" .

That detecting would be a problem for one reason. For example soldiery and dreadwrym chest for brd is ilevel 130 but chest from WoD which is ilevel 120 is much much better. Now imagine that I would farm WoD for the chest because I wanted a BiS and I kept losing all the time only because of the "detect" system.

For some, stats and combat are the reason to play, for others pursuits like housing or glamours are the reason to play. The way the game is set up now keeps it fair for all parties, no matter why they're looting.

So what you're saying is that if I want gear for glamour/other reasons, I should leave my ilvl130 gear with a retainer and come in inferior gear (thus slowing down the run if it becomes wide spread, which it will).

There is no argument that can counter this. People have different ways to play and different priorities. You don't even need gear higher than i120 for 99% of the content and you most definetly only need i110 gear (Soldiery) for the main story, which is the single most important thing in the game, as it unlocks every other content.

Stopped reading where i cut off the quote. It sucks, but if the button lights up and you can push it, then you are entitled to use it. Period. Did you speak up in party chat and ask if you could lot the hands if they dropped? No, you assumed. You gambled and lost.

Speaking for myself, if a glamour piece i could use drops i will usually pass if someone needs it and speaks up in time. But again, someone would have to have spoken up.

This idea is stupid. I care more about glamour than gear progression. I've done WoD soo many times now to get the healer hat but it has never dropped. Let's say it drops my next run and the other healer is doing wod for his first time and has ilvl 100 hat, does he deserve it more than me who's done wod say 30 times to get that hat?

In your example you asked a little too late.
You should ask at the beginning, and even then unless you're in a PF group or a static that has preset loot rules, there's no guarantee they need to let you have it.

In fact, personally the only time I ever don't roll on loot is if I actually don't participate in the battle (die immediately, get locked out, stuff like that).

There are people out there that will lie or overexaggerate in order to get what they want or equip an inferior peice of gear and pull the 'inspect me' line (not saying that you did btw). It suck for you but the other player didn't owe you anything. They may as well of been running WoD for twice as long as what you have been in order to get that item. We are only seeing one side of the story.
