I think sacrificing the fairy for 'magic power' wasn't the best move from SE. If you sacrificed the fairy for a big shield, a big Aoe regen, a mass Leech raid-wide or an instant Ressurrection would all be better moves.
When I go Cleric to DPS, I rely on the fairy to keep the tank alive while I do damage. I wouldn't sacrifice the fairy for a few seconds of dps and have to come back quickly to heal the party. Lustrate helps, but i don't like to spend aetherflow mindlessly.

that's why they said that SCH will need to be super careful when they use some of their new skills and that they are more raid-oriented
they will be double edge swords but could be a huge DPS boost
ask WHM to go healing mode, sacrifice fairy, go in cleric and if this impacts other caster, go full DPS with BLM and SMN
could help meetings DPS checks in upcoming raids

No points to use it in dungeon I think unless one the boss last few % if you decide to burn

The sacrifice of the fairy is something we discussed on another thread, we where saying that the third fairy should be fenix or something like it and regain full health to a player or rez him by sacrificing her self, well, we will see how this works

I used to be a main sch only but now i play both whm and sch in endgame static and for progression this coming patch i'm actually switching whm/ast main, while a friend of mine will be our sch. On the comment of whm being boring I have to disagree. If you have a sch who trying to optimize their dps, which forces you to optimize you're healing ( especially if you are also dpsing on whm), then there are some very intense moments on whm in the endgame fights XD. So if you are bored on whm, I suggest trying to find places in fights where you can dps and optizime your dps while not hindering the sch's. Although I will agree that now echo makes all the fights kind of boring, damn echo buff. Also their are alot of interesting changes coming to whm. More nukes, heal pulses, that AoE regen? bubble, mini benediction, and who knows what traits. Needless to say, I'm excited for healing. Did you see yoshi's blm's hp? that is alot of damage and healing that will be going out XD!


On the topic of new sch abilities: I too was slightly disappointed in the new sch abilities, however they aren't useless as others are claiming. For instance, if your whm happens to die, you now as a sch have emergency burst healing tools without having to use eos. Especially if you can turn adlo into a big cure and then AoE that big cure with the other ability. Almost like Rapture + Accession from ffxi sch. If this is possible it will also make double sch less of an annoyance.

Well... effects aside, I truly just like the idea of killing the fairy :|

Besides, they did use the wording "Magical Power" in the live letter, but its too soon to discard the possibility that it'll be a boost to your healing abilities.

Also Swiftcasting the fairy again should be possible... maybe it will have some convenience to drop one and summon another? or just resummon the previous one... who knows =-=a

Imagine for Gigaflare if the scholar could "bane" their Adlo instead of succor...lot more mititagion...sounds pretty damn cool to me. The one where you lose the shield for more healing sound interesting but it depends on how it work...is it only one spell or a short duration...have to see. Sac Eos for Magic power, Swiftcast Selene and go dps ham....LOL.
The other Aoe heals is much needed as well...love that one!!

It's fine and dandy that he prefers Scholar over WHM.

But is it required for him to repeatedly state WHMs are "disgustingly boring", "put me to sleep" etc etc like a broken record to tell us about his preference?

The new spells for SCH seem very boring to me. Sorry.

I'm not surprised, you havn't had the chance to play a healer in FCoB yet to theorycraft effectively.
