Locked Encounters are a good design to stop "Zerging". So you can't play it like Guild Wars 2 and roll through the zone in big raids killing everything.
in the first week of the game where no one knows how to fight the monster sure.

After that it devolves into a game of who can spam the most dotons and shadowflares where the monster spawns turning any competition into a lottery.

If the monster spawns in a random location the playerbase has proven they can game that just by cheating :/

It is a very common and very wrong association that casuals like things easy while hardcores like things more difficult. They are actually very separate. There are just as many casuals who love challenge and do not only want SE to stop nerfing all the content but also want them to add more of a challenge to many areas of the game as there are hardcores who want the same thing. At the same time there are just as many "hardcore" players who want the content much easier so they can breeze through it and get their treasure and reach their goal as there are casuals who want the same thing. So stop with the casuals want it easy stuff. They are two seperate sets of opposing people and mindsets.

Good thing we can fly over the dangerous mobs after we attune ourselves to the crystal... unless they have those gosh dang frogs from Mor Dhona looking slightly upwards.

I want to raise dead nooblets and aid them through a dangerous area, that's how I was taught to do in MMOs by my mentor: ragnarok online (rest in peace)

    Dear SE,

Please don't make a massive multi-player online rpg require multiple players.

    Thanks,

    Confused single player gamers

I am ALL for grouping on the open world. It's about time this game emphasizes more grouping seeing as it's supposed to be a multiplayer game.

RO is pretty much alive and kicking and it keeps getting updates.

Also. We are already forced to group for EVERY FREAKING THING, taking away open maps as well completely would just be horrible. Playing an MMO does not mean I have to surround myself with people every time I am online.

Also, regarding the flying. As was made clear on the Live Letter, you will first have to explore the map, finish an atma-like gathering quest and THEN you can fly. You will have to do this for every single map. So much for just flying away.

The game already strongly emphasizes grouping given that every single dungeon and raid requires you to group up with people.

I don't want FFXIV to turn into FFXI where every single thing required a group and I spent more time waiting to get people to do things than playing the game.

Just because a game has multiplayer in its name doesn't mean that everything should require a group.

It's not even that bad. Besides, we are already overgeared for the first half of the game. Get in there and kill stuff. Tired of seeing nothing but complaints for every little thing left and right.

Also Yoshida didn't say anything about difficulty group quests in the new zones. Only about challenging fights against 2-3 enemies at the same time. If you don't want this challenge, fight one by one.
