I've played a lot and many of them have weekly maint o_O
I have never felt they over-do their maintenances, they often finish them early too.

I've played The Secret World, LOTRO, SWTOR, a few Perfect World games, 9Dragons, Runescape....none of them had this many maintenances...
There's a difference between a gamebreaking bug and an inconvenient bug. If it's gamebreaking, it's important to note it in patch/hotfix notes. How often do you see many of these in these emergency maintenances? I don't see them often. It's almost always small, insignificant, or non-urgent fixes/additions to the game.As someone who played a Cathar in SWTOR back when a certain update actually deleted my skin color, and then left it broken for a month and a half... No. Just no.
If you have a serious bug, and you know how to fix it, don't sit on it for a month just to avoid depriving a few people of a few hours of playtime. Take a nap, watch a movie, read a book, and enjoy that bugs are actually getting fixed in a timely manner.
These things can be thrown in with patches they needed to do anyways. They do not demand a separate maintenance every time they notice something is a little wrong.
Edit: Also, it should be noted that every maintenance takes away from our paid subscription time. Is it a lot of money going down the drain? No, but the principle is still there.
Edit again: Also, Fenral's bug in SWTOR is one that should have been fixed ASAP. Just clarifying that it is a gamebreaking bug. Most of the hotfixes on here do not seem to be for very gamebreaking issues though.

Ya this is also what I mean. Also like my last reply as well. There's a difference between a gamebreaking bug and an inconvenient bug. [off topic but screw this 1000 character limit...]
Just in on the JP forums, the hotfix is for the PS3/PS4 heavensward pre-order issues.
Bad google translation:
Final Fantasy XIV: newborn eorzea HotFixes (2015 / 05 / 21)
■ fixed following bugs.•PlayStation ® 3 version, and PlayStation ® guest book purchased a "final fantasy XIV: blue sky I sugared" 4 Edition PlayStation ® fails version check "Final fantasy XIV: newborn eorzea", when you download "final fantasy XIV: blue sky I sugared" data, enter a product code in the Store, will be able to login.
* This problem is European PlayStation ® have been raised if you download in the Store. There is no impact because Japan and North America began to enter product code, do not.
You are be able to login by * this bug is "final fantasy XIV: newborn eorzea" must be reinstalled. Visit the reinstallation of the client and apologize to you, sorry, but thank you.
Figured that was reason for emergency maint, since an issue where people who purchased heavensward on ps3/4 are unable to play because of some odd issue with the download that occured after inputting the code does warrant an emergency fix.
I wish they'd just put that quote of the bad translation in the quote.
That being said: TL;DR: Basically they fixed that issue that EU had with their preorder code from the Heavensward code claim site. (I honestly think they allowed the codes to be entered too soon (the code that's supposed to be entered in PSN)...theirs should have also said 'Pending' too after entering the code on the site where you claim (I'm still waiting for mine).
My friend recruitment codes (I put it here because in the thread it just gets out dated quickly by new posts):
My code(1): HVTRTX6P (Unused)
My code(2): RAJHW2J3 (Unused, but could be invalid at this point)
The fix was apparently to prevent the issue from affecting anyone else. The people who have already pre-ordered have to reinstall.
