So I don't agree that we should bring personal wings to this game... i am much more excited about personal airships. but i am astonished by how stupid the arguments against wings are.
I mean... where do you people think lore comes from? it's written, on the fly... by writers... lore is not a set of rules written 3000 years ago that tell you what you can put in the game, you are aware that tomorrow they could announce final fantasy wings a final fantasy about wings and it would still be final fantasy and franchise lore right? They can literally write ANYTHING to implement wings and it would be lore.

Yes, they could write anything, and writing "anything" would break the established lore and be poor writing. Also "not the center of the universe" wut? What does that even have to do with someones opinion that wings appear in F2P games (which they do very often)? Finally "people going afk flying would clutter the sky and not let me see the pretty stars" hahahahaha... wtf ", have you ever played a game with wings? I have played Mu Online and that was definitly the case with all the giant glowing wings everywhere. It became visual clutter.

No, no you're not. Noone is. We're all stars in the same night sky, shining no brighter than the rest. As for the arguments for and against wings... I have to say that it just doesn't fit in with lore. We're not the chosen of Bahamut or Garuda, we're the chosen of Hydealyn and "she's" a giant crystal. Further, she doesn't really have any iconography that anyone's seen in-game that suggests a more popular form, like Altana in XI. Giving players wings would largely only be for vanity and likely not work as wings for balance purposes, thus making them little more than screen clutter. Remember or no, but in the Beta you could take minions into dungeons. You can't anymore due to the clutter they created, don't see wings being any different.

so you're saying that they can't come up with a new story-line that bring wings in the setting of this game? what a lack of imagination.
about the opinion.. that's my point... that is an opinion not a real argument. if this were going from some sort of research that concluded most people find them tacky (and i'm sure they do) that would be an argument.. but "they remind ME of f2p games" is just a terrible point.
I have played games with wings before. I never played mu.. but for what i understand you can't fly in mu... and those wings are nothing like what the OP is talking about. i think it was pretty evident that OP was referring to wings that are only seen when flying. i never ran into an area that was so cluttered that i couldn't see the sky in aion. although flying fights are pretty obnoxious.

again i dont want wings in this games... but the arguments are ridiculous.

you don't know what they are going to write tomorrow. if they decide that hydealyn is actually an angel looking lady inside of that crystal and she breaks out.. you can't say anything about it... because it's their lore. that's how storytelling works. you just come up with stuff and put more stuff on top of that.

Right and wrong. Lore is decided upon, written, and it GOVERNS the story. For instance, it would be incredibly awkward for the three great nations; or separately, to develop technology equal to that of the Garlean Empire without the help of Cid, and even with the aid of Cid we lack the resources. Therefore we don't have said technology, that is what makes the Garlean Empire such an imposing threat.

There's no reason for the Garleans to make magitek wings, as they already have an established air superiority over those they set out to conquer. Making said tech would only give rise to the possibility of their ships being boarded more readily, if the tech were to fall into opposing hands.

Magical wings as I've stated two or threes times already.. do.. not.. make.. sense. If they were to exist they'd be bound only to mages, which would only unbalance things. Lore wise they make even less sense. White and Black magic was created in the Fifth Astral Era, and there has been no mentions of said magic existing. If this were a thing, it would have been widely known and highly sought after.

Could it be created today by today's mages, possibly. Unlikely, but possibly. And then we're right back to it being a mage only spell.

And you do realize that each Final Fantasy series is largely separate from one another, right? The only repeating elements are spell names (kinda), ability names (kinda), some character/mob names, chocobos, airships, and item names.

It's a possibility, but at the same time these are the same two people that were having trouble with an airship, without Cid, let along moving onto something much more compact. But still a possibility.
