Certainly would add more reasons for drama, which I think its what they are trying to avoid here...
Not much more ridiculous than some of the other pfs I've seen. Anyways, I wouldn't mind, but it would have to be handled properly. I've seen a few suggestions so based on those how's this sound for a few basic rules.

The personal parser will be visable to the player by default.
The player has the choice of whether or not his/her parse is displayed in PUGs, and the party leader will decide in PF.
The parser will display the players dps alongside the party's average as well as the avg done by others of the player's job/lvl/ilvl.
With the other players' consent their individual dps scores can be displayed alongside the average.

Unfortunately I'm a console scrub so I've never used a parser, so I can't offer any input on how the data should be broken down, but I will say this: My policy is the more data I have to work with, the better.

If the are going to allow parsers there is no way they could make a "private" parser for each individual because there would be no point. Groups would simply ask you to take a screenshot of your parses (at the very least) or deny you entry. Or if a group wipes they would ask for your parse SS and if you refuse they would kick you. I say this as someone who is not in the least bit worried about how they perform and have played games with and without parsers, having no issues with them but can see why in most cases they are simply unnecessary. Yes, parsers can help you identify a simply bad player but what some people have said is true, they definitely DO cause people to be elitist over minor dps/hps differences.

I'd argue that those people would be elitist with or without parsers. If anything, they can also act as a shield in case you feel unjustly called out for poor performance. Not saying abuse won't exist, but a) there's still a lot of potential good to come out of it, and b) people that would get all huffy about a minor (and I'm pretty sure a raider here can tell us what really constitutes "minor") difference probably aren't worth playing with in the first place.

I agree. Personally I'm not really for or against parsers, but I can definitely see a lot of pros AND cons to the experience of having them (having played quite a few games that did at a relatively high level). For the content I have been and plan on doing in the future, a parser is relatively unnecessary as it's almost always apparent who is doing well and who is not, but for the higher end of things a parser can be invaluable for progression, as can replay that records player location for the duration of an encounter.

    Tank - Sleep while playing.
    DPS - Eat while playing.
Heals - Play and get blamed for the wipe.

    There's your in-game Parse.

    You're welcome.

So you guys generally are opposed to parsers but there are fights with DPS check... SMH
A blm who is doing 280 in any content needs to rework his rotation or his footwork. No need to grief this player, the best players don't grief for that anyway. But at least it helps to make suggestions and learn from each other. If you see someone grieving another player because of the bad dps feel free to report.
But let's be honest, you can't really hide your lack of dmg so it's better if there's a tool that can explain why and how much you're lacking dmg.

Ok but guys why is a sub standard player with an elitist grp. Their objectives dont match and tbh its just an argument waiting to happen.

/p BLM, your damage is way off from where it should be.
/p Have you researched a better pattern of casts?

Obviously, they won't end in a static together. But they can end up in a PF together. Why won't the sub standard player be advised by a top notch player? Why won't he accept the advises? Isn't the goal to improve? Wouldn't it be better to see improvement at a bigger scale than just a static of 8 men?

You'd just need a certain amount of time to get the information that you want.
