2.55 Main Scenario Requirement.

I thought you cant use the new jobs until you complete all of the story. So it goes back to the same concerns unfortunately.

New players and players that haven't finished the main story won't be able to play the new jobs, but the players that have will be playing the new jobs in hordes! Trust me when I say a LOT of players will be playing the new jobs come launch and as old and new players make their way to Heavensward they will as well.

Totally gonna be that one guy here but!: Ishgard is in Eorzea, just not part of the regular (or rather, wasn't till recently as you should know) part of the alliance with the other three big city-states. But yeah the jobs still have nice lore reasons for being there instead of outside it.

My problem with the storyline is the amount of teleporting around and trivial dialogue. Make it more concise.

And please, if you won't delete Alphinaud, send him and Minphilia away on permanent vacation with an "errand".

You actually make a great character with Moenbryda and then you kill her off.

And yet you use Eorzea again to describe it lol. The new jobs start in Eorzea. A better wording for what you are getting across would just be to say they don't start "Outside Ishgard".

So, first of all, I think we'll probably (maybe) see some adjustments to the original MSQ when the expansion is released (unless SE has stated otherwise). I could see them cutting out some of the really pointless quests while maintaining the most important aspects of it to streamline content.

Lvl 50 story doesn't take that long to catch up on. I only learned last week that I'd have to complete the MSQ to gain access to Ishgard and I was at Snowcloak. I spent the week casually catching up on story and just completed it today. Put the time in and you can burn through it even faster than I did. If people really want access to Ishgard as soon as Heavensward comes out, I'm pretty sure they're already aware of the requirements regarding access to it.

For people joining the game sometime after Heavensward comes out... well, that's just like joining any other game at a later time. You have some catching up to do to have access to current content. Really nothing new there.

People do realized that the main scenario acts as a soft-gate to keep an under-geared player from going in over their head right? At ilvl110 you were already almost twice as strong as you were back when you first reached level 50.

The requirement to enter Steps of Faith asks for a minimum ilvl of 90. Not twice in power, but still considerably more powerful than a fresh 50. It would also be a very fair guess to assume that this would mean the content made for the beginning of the expansion also expect a minimum ilvl of 90+. The Main Scenario lock for Ishgard is not in place just to create a narrative to naturally explain why you are suddenly allowed inside the city that has closed it gates to outsiders for over a decade. It's in place to force player growth. It would be far worse to have such a sudden jump in difficulty curve from ARR to Heavensward for new players jumping in at below ilvl50 than to nurture the player first to get them up to speed.

Honestly if people don't like doing the Story quests then they probably aren't going to like heavensward either since it's story questline is supposed to take as long as 2.0's story did. The Main Scenario is simply a core part of the game. The patch quests will be a blip over all in the times its going to take for people to go through the story all the way to 60.

Plus, just having people move straight into Ishgard would leave them with no idea of what was going on with the story.

The only complaint I can see with some traction is that new players might want to play the extra Jobs. However since they wouldn't be able to play those jobs till 30 even to start with they would still be levelling another class at least 30 levels. By that point its hardly a brutal chore to go the last 20 levels to gain access to the Job. If it is for them then they probably won't like the game in the long run anyway.

You really don't get it. This is not about the game being easier. This is about a smooth leveling transition from level 50 to 51 for new players. Right now there are to many level 50 quests in the main Scenario and it won't be a smooth leveling experience for new players. New players are going to feel held back when they are hitting levels 53 to 54 and still on level 50 content. That is the problem.

I respectfully and firmly disagree. I remember when I was leveling up my first 50, the biggest annoyance I had was not leveling up fast enough to keep up with the story. When I'm engrossed in story and have to stop and go do some grinding for a while just so I can keep up with it is a little disappointing. I'd rather be a few levels ahead than behind.
