    In the benchmark video, there's that scene where everyone is on their flying mounts.

    There's a flying whale monster that attacks that looks a lot like Sin from FFX.
    Not in the game proper yet, but the design is very similar.

    That isn't Sin though, although it is from a past FF game - it's actually Bismarck from FFVI.

    Oh yea, that's right. Forgot about Bismarck.
    Well, Sin might be inspired by Bismarck a little. The whale design isn't that common.

    On the Masamune, the appearance with him using it is probably is the most direct reference. Though I might put Masamune on the general trope as well because it appears in so many games.
