There's a flying whale monster that attacks that looks a lot like Sin from FFX.
Not in the game proper yet, but the design is very similar.

That isn't Sin though, although it is from a past FF game - it's actually Bismarck from FFVI.
Gilgamesh wielded the Masamune in FFVIII though so if anything this is actually a reference to his previous appearance there and thus has nothing to do with Sephiroth.During the trial "Battle in the Big Keep" Gilgamesh can be seen wielding various weapons and the name of his abilities reflect the weapon he is using; at one point he uses a skill called "Masamume" and charges at the tank with an abnormally long katana. This is a reference to both the name and appearance of Sephiroth's weapon in FF7,

Well, Sin might be inspired by Bismarck a little. The whale design isn't that common.
On the Masamune, the appearance with him using it is probably is the most direct reference. Though I might put Masamune on the general trope as well because it appears in so many games.
