I see the traitors being eventually Rewarded as a Traitor Deserves by whatever the real enemy turns out to be in this plot, denying us our opportunity for revenge.

Would be far from the first time this sort of thing has been done in video games regarding villain(s) that they go out of their way to make you hate.

Those Traitors are going to get it at some point, but Top Priority is to help the Only dude that literally had your back. Just watched it over again and maaaan...people could use the Politics+Many outweighs the "One" arguement to defend the Leaders, but that dont quite work out when on many occasions that "One" stopped Godlike beings from bending them all over and having their way with them.
