In a F2P game, "It'll lower cash shop sales" is a valid argument. In a P2P game, it is not. Regardless of how much the developer/publisher may wish it to be so. And especially when in regards to something ( changing eye color ) that was already stated would be an ingame gil purchasable feature.

I still can't get over the fact that I've played much less successful f2p games and b2p games that have free/paid for with in game currency ways to edit these things about your character.

If people are willing to shell out cash for things though, I can't really blame SE for taking advantage of it....

At least they didn't make hairstyles and such fantasia only. I'm sure there are people out there willing to pay for it and make it profitable for SE.

I still love it when companies make gestures that show they aren't trying to squeeze money out of me all the time though. But from the company's perspective, can't blame them for doing it when customers allow it.

If the Eye changer was $.50 then fine by me I guess if we HAVE to dish out money.
But $10 for an eye colour in a P2P game is stupid as hell...
Also I'll put up where he said and to get people attention via Comic Sans!

A: You will be able to change your character's hairstyle, hair color, eye color, scars, face paint, and face paint color. The barber shop will be released in patch 2.1, so don’t worry too much about not being able to change aspects of the character you initially created.

This has nothing to do with lore or a pay gate. He said it would be with the salon dude...and it's not.
He ain't say jack squat about it being in the CS. My whole problem is he said something and
didn't do it. Stop trying to make every thing CASH SHOP ONRY.

Comic Sans - things just got real!

But yeah, I totally agree. We were told we'd be getting the eye color option, and we didn't. If this had been a lore concern, they would not have mentioned it in the first place. Fingers crossed they bring the feature with Heavensward and the Au Ra.

I can imagine that this will be an even bigger issue for people playing as au ra due to the imbral eye options

Heck, I'd say that changing your eye color is no crazier than instantly changing your short black hair to long blond hair. Wigs, hair extensions, contacts, magical alchemical potions, whatever you want to imagine is making it happen . . . I figure you kind of have to just shrug your shoulders and not think about it too hard when it comes to certain convenient game features.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind paying real money for something as small as an eye color change if I could buy just the eye color change. But FFXIV's recustomization price is all-or-nothing, so I have to pay $10 even if I want to only change my eye color.

But I doubt they will add a way to customize features individually for a small fee (like SWTOR's appearance designer), so I hope they add eye color to the aesthetician.

Since eye color isn't related to hair at all I don't think they would let you change it.

The posts in this thread made me laugh quite a bit. Anyway, there's enough proof to show that there was something promised and not delivered. That's an issue itself. And it's a fairly small change to fix honestly. As someone mentioned, most people aren't going to shell out X Money to change one feature. They'd wait until they have multiple reasons or one big reason. They even advertise Fantasia as changing race or changing gender. Not exactly features itself~

It's funny to see people referring to this game as medieval/renaissance. I remember when I first started playing that's how it seemed, but now walking around in final coil it feels like a futuristic sci-fi game. It's final fantasy, it does what it wants.

Anyway, I remember the first time I went to the aesthetician to change my eye color, because it seemed like something that would definitely be available there, I was highly disappointed. I'm all for this being implemented, I don't think there is any reason for it not to be.
