    I like all the jobs so far BUT I think Bard and ARcher should be separate jobs b/c you're sacrificing to much to do both things at the same time. I mean you can't play a harp and shoot arms at the same time.

    And I tried to get into summer but it feels like a poison mage - Yoshida did say a complete rework of summer is coming in 3.0 so hopefully it is great

    All the other jobs I absolutely love what they did ..even with the mudra lag- you get used to it and the game gives you alot of time to get you used to it- which is something i love to.

    exactly this.. naturally if ranged dps hit as hard as blm for example there would be a few tweaks to reduce mobility for certain skills.. most ranger classes in other games ive played actually had beast summons to tank for the rangers while they dpsed boss/mobs.. and i love kiting lol bards can do it for a while in ff14 not as great as ranged classes in other games but still possible :P heck ive had to kite in ST the whole group wiped except myself a scholar and another bard left us with alot of mobs to finish off so only way possible was kiting otherwise = wiped P

    id also love to see beastmaster at some point as medium ranged dps with some beast summons for tanking/support/dpsing :P

    Let's face it, this thread could basically be summed up as, "This isn't FFXI, so therefore it sucks." Also it's funny how whenever SMN is brought up and how it supposedly "does not play like a 'traditional' SMN", and then in almost all cases the example given of a 'traditional' SMN is Yuna from FFX (and occasionally FFXI's SMN) - it's as if the incarnations of SMN from FFIII through to IX never existed. *rolls eyes*

    Having said that, I do agree that the experiment with SMN and SCH was not very successful, but the problem was not with the Jobs themselves or how they were designed - the manual delegation of AP into stats however was the problem. It was an outdated relic from 1.0 that should have been scrapped in the change over to ARR and instead Jobs automatically should adjust stats accordingly whenever the player changed class or Job, the lack of which naturally caused problems for having a second Job with an entirely different role (healer) come off a class that was up to that point designated as a DPS. Ah well.

MNK gets Kick Attack ability because SE didn't know their own job. SCH had a stint of being more useful than other mages. PLD and NIN were the ONLY tanks for a long time. NIN was only kind of a tank even, gods with multi-hit spells would rip them to shreds. A game with over 15 jobs and you have TWO tanks?!

    I loved FFXI, but come on. Balance issues were the name of the game. FFXIV is vastly more balanced.

    Personally I don't really care that much about BLM's not having all the elements to be honest. In the first place, they're just flavour in the end. Different ways of doing damage. They get mildly different due to blizzard restoring MP and thunder being a dot now. If they were able to give BLM's water and stone and such and have different effects then that'd be kinda cool I guess but not that big of a change?

    What I probably don't want is them actually giving back elemental properties to BLM spells and elemental resistences to bosses the way a lot of people (or at least several vocal people) seem to want it. It sounds like it adds depth but really there isn't a difference. The only thing that would happen then is you'd use the strongest spell most of the time, then when you came to a new boss fight you'd say "hey guys gotta google the spell," look it up, then just cast aero on the boss or whatever till you need MP. And after that you just remember to use aero. Alternatively, instead of googling it (which I know that 90% of this game's community will do, and the other 10% will be clueless), you could just cast one spell, then the next, and so on till you find the one that does the most damage.

    I will always think that Musketeer => Scholar was the superior choice. Seeing the mess that Archanist has resulted in surely helps... Glad to hear Summoner is getting fixed for 3.0 though.

    Musketeer as a field medic style Class with the pistol for damage (just like Conjurer has Stone/etc.). Scholar adding a bit more magic (even the fairy if that lore is worth keeping) and much more strategic abilities (Stratagems, see: FFXI) that enhance its regular abilities. Do I use this to enhance this, or that? Instead we have "Do I need to save stacks of Aetherflow?"... They took a Job titled the Strategist and turned it into a pet healer with very little strategy involved... Such a damned waste... Hope those Lv60 abilities will tap into the Jobs potential a bit more, but as long as it's shackled to the same Aetherflow mechanic as Summoner I can't see that ever happening...

    isnt there gonna be somethin like that for blm in 3.0 tho?? cant remember exactly what was said but there was mention somethin simlar about blm n elemental materias etc etc long time ago?? so cant really remember exactly what they were referring to ;/ just remember people saying elemental materia prices were gonna skyrocket lol

    I seem to remember it being a suggestion a fan made to YoshiP at an event which the western world took as something YoshiP actually suggested was happening.

    I don't think they "got any wrong"
    BRD is unique, with the concept actually being rather interesting.
    SMN just suffers from the egi not being "aesthetically pleasing" and some mechanical problems they've said they're working on
    BLM, NIN, MNK, WAR, DRG and PLD are what I'd expect.
    SCH is better than I expect.

    So yeah no complaints, and I really don't see what others' are. If the classes aren't to your liking, why not play a different game?
    Each dev team has their own ideas, and if you don't like it maybe it's not the game for you.

    I mean seriously why is "different" always automatically "wrong"?
