The Au Ra group is made with the image of the devil. Their designs are inspired by demons, not dragons. Because of this, even though they have a similar appearance to dragons, they won't be especially persecuted by city residents. (Oda)

it says inspired by Demons NOT that they have demonic origins which is what I was referring to. That would be like saying Miq's origins are cats just because that's what they are inspired by (yes i know rough example considering that by the lore we DO have for Miqs they likely do have a kitty origin but it gets my point across)

Well if we look at what we have seen of the lands of Ishgard, they hate dragons with a passion but the numerous demons wondering their landscape (ogres) and dwelling in the caves of their lands are treated more as pests. They had a fort overrun by Voidsent and were like 'Damn pests' rather than 'Slay the abominations!'.

Strange priorities a 1000 years of war gives you.

Having said all that, while some look more demonic in form, they look 'normal' enough that I can see Ishgardians overlooking it. Lets face it. They don't like outsiders full stop, so they are going to be bastards until won over regardless.
