Does anyone else find healers DPS impact on group ironic?

a healer dpsing when the bard uses BV with foe req , will put some nice numbers

whm single target isnt that bad , is the MP issue that comes with it , on AOE holy drains mp like crazy , mp that u will need later on

Sch has nearly no mp issues , and can put dots and keep healing while dots ticks , but the reason sch dps is better is because they can keep healing with pet + lustrate w/o leaving Cleric stance.

Single target speaking at full potential, they are both at around 300-350 with nearly 400DPS spikes depending on the ilvl.

You people DO know you can stun packs of mobs for seven seconds each right? You can prevent a lot of damage you prevent by doing that? DPSing to help with adds reduces the damage they deal plus increases the time DPS can do to the boss.

I personally cast both my aero and aero II immediately then asses how well the team can handle me DPSing. If all goes well, pop goes cleric and off I go I was told once a healer who doesent help aside from healing (when possible) is a bad healer. Words I heal by.

Speaking from the tank point of view this applies to all non DPS classes.

When content allows I rarely tank in shield oath, instead using CD's intelligently to reduce dmg while keeping my DPS high. The only time I don't is on large pulls where i know i need my VIT set to keep the initial pull safe.

If your not assisting with DPS then your selling yourself short.

Congratulations for quoting me to emphasize that I said "I" instead of making a general statement about which job does more DPS. No need to get all butthurt because I don't parse 300-350 on scholar and I stated my personal experience DPSing on both healer jobs.

That and you can use Cover in case a DPS manages to get aggro.

TBH it seems like a lot of fights run into balance issues once Healer DPS is factored in, part of what makes Lota and ST jokes. I also wanna know what constitutes as a horrible DPS, b/c I usually practice rotations and crap to make sure I'm not messing up but y'all make it sound like that's not enough :P

Late answer I know, but if you care enough to actually do this, you're probably in the top 10% of DPS players. If you actually get someone to check your DPS, assuming you're about i130:

300+ DPS - Good for a pug group. Can be passable for entry level raiding if other DPS are willing/capable of picking up the slack while you learn
400+ DPS - Excellent for a pug group. Can accomplish all current raids.
~550 DPS (or more) - The very best raiders.

Unfortunately, I've seen DPS in endgame dungeons doing as little as 100. To put that in perspective, DPS in cutter's cry can outperform that if they care. Healers can do 300ish single target.

This thread pleases me.

The fight to raise awareness of the importance of having healers contribute using their full kits has been a difficult one on these forums, with many strawman tunnel-DPS healer effigies gleefully slain by the opposition, but more players seem to be recognizing proactive healers who always find a way to contribute rather than lazing about when they don't have to heal.
