Angra Mainyu is the cause of much derpage for me.

My favourite is trying to step through him for Double Vision and then backpedal back into position while he's animation locked... Except I used a skill while I was behind him, causing me to auto-face and backpedal in the opposite direction to what I was expecting. Cue the boss doing a 180 and killing half the DPS...

Oh yeah, and facing him towards the hourglass when I'm not being careful enough with positioning. Bye bye melee...

Well, still being a nooblet tank and all, earlier this week I had gone to LotA as tank for the first time, and ended up "volunteering" as MT on King Behemoth (since the better geared tanks wanted to sit next to the towers instead /grumblegrumble). When the meteor came down, I got behind one of the comets like normal, and figured I could safely come out and get him back into position as soon as the cast bar went away. Given where I'm posting, I'm sure you can guess how THAT ended, lol.

forgetting to keep my gear repaired and updated to my level. I was a 28GLD going through Thousand Maw for the first time wondering why im struggling. Found out I was still using Level 15 gear and some were at 1% durability. oops!

Changed to proper level gear and suddenly the game was too easy..lol

I did Something similar in Halatali Hard on my PLD, but My pieces kept breaking. Luckily I still had my Phlaegeon set from Sycrus tower in my bag and some Lowbie Jewelery from leveling WAR. So I went in wearing Full Noct (i110) and Burtang (i110) and left wearing Phlaegeon (i100) with i39 HQ Heliodor Accessories and a Notched Viking Sword (Weak i35) with Scorpion Shield (i44 Dzemael Darkhold).

Was in an Ifrit EX today right before work, had just taken Ifrit to MT it during the last set of nails and had the fetter on me. The guy I'm chained too for some reason decides to run next to me and I kinda panic trying to turn Ifrit away from him, and end up getting him, myself AND the other tank killed, leading to a wipe. To make it worse I end up leaving right after that because I needed to get to work.

Moral of the story: Don't do trials and above when you only have 15 minutes before needing to leave.

I recently got the opportunity to tank the IGs in LoTA. I tried to turn them around to avoid cleaving the towers, and they cleaved two meteors, a black mage, and a bard. >.>

Note: history of slow loading times into dungeons, cutscenes and everything else.

Come home from work, turn on laptop and log in, queue for low level roulette, click commence.
Load time long as always, no one says anything, pattern of thinking changes to "I really need a shower, i feel gross"
Looking at screen forgetting that I queued, oh I'm just logging in, I'll just be at my FC. Go to take a shower.
Come back to my laptop, sitting in haukke manor, chat log filled with 10 different people saying things to the sort "wtf tank, where are you" and then leaving. What's beyond me is why did no one decide to vote kick.
After reading all of this, soon after others begin to join, run dungeon with no issues.

The reason for that is very easy though. Tank are such a bottleneck for groups that kicking them is not an option. Since queues are instant anyway, almost zero tank use "party in progress", which means if you lose your tank the run is done for. If they get out after kicking you / voting abandon, the dps would face a 20-30 min queue to get back in. If you took 7-8 minutes to get back to your computer, it is very likely they were still not to the point where they would rather face a queue time rather than wait for you. It is pretty sad really.

I have not read the whole thread, so I am not sure if this happened to someone else...lol
So a few nights ago we were in turn 9, as we get close to golem phase, the MT is sittting below 50% health, Nael is about to cast Ravensbeak, and I, as as the OT decided to COVER the MT to facilitate mitigation and help the healers. What I never realized is that by covering him, I absorbed the debuff all to myself. Phase is pushed, MT gets the green icon over his head, and yours truly joins the party in preparation for golem pick-up. The result: debuff goes off, and like a suicide bomber, I anhilated both healers and a couple DPS in a massive explosion of pure PHAIL!!
We are all friends, so we learned something new (for us) and laughed at my DERP award for the night >.<

You need to switch to legacy camera settings so you don't backpedal anymore. It'll completely eliminate that kind of derp.

And almost killed my party with the first room's Valefor's farts!! whops :U
