I think they look good long as you manage to blend them with eye color, to make the whole iris look shining:

When the eye and the ring are of mis-matching color instead..... ehhh, it's subjective. To me, it's an eyesore. No pun intended.

But then again, I've seen much worse done with odd-coloured eyes combos that I've seen around. Yellow and purple, black and white, red and blue... come on, now >_>; ....

(Just my personal taste. Don't hate! I don't hate people for using eye colors I find ugly anyway!)
