Please Eliminate or Reduce A Lot of the Pure RNG Design

But FFXIV is not free to play.
There is no "Buy this to have more attempts at this pure RNG" gimmick. No in FFXIV, it's "Waste more time to have more attempts at this pure RNG". Time being money.
But time isn't only money, as some in the thread have indicated, people are being burned out.
I'm about to be burned out myself to be honest...this zodiac is...wearing my soul off every black dropless screen...

you do relise zodiac weapon is completely optional right?? if people dont like the range instead of whinging about it every 5 mins just settle for another weapon that isnt as reliant on range.. considering in 2 months theres gonna be a completely new relic weapon with even more range and 10000 topics complaining about it lol

People have a right to complain about things within the game if they don't like those things or can see an issue with it. We're paying customers here. A lot of people do not have the kind of time FFXIV requires for its RNG-inspired mechanics. Also, the relic weapon questline offers the best weapon in the game. Obviously people want it... I want it.

I just legitimately don't have the time to get it. On one of my only days out of two off (of the week...), I got my weapon to i100... It took me 9 freaking hours to do that. Apparently it used to be worse than this too?! Like no, I am sorry, but I am not spending the few amounts of time I have off of work on something so utterly unfun. It's horribly ridiculous, and I cannot honestly believe even the Japanese players truly enjoy it...

I'm just going to add here that if you are looking at getting through the zodiac weapon right now, at this point in the game cycle, you are probably not going to get as much reward as the work you are going to put into it. The time to get your relic has been over the past 9-11 months. There is a point where the amount of time given to get it allows the "Law of large numbers" to overcome the laws of RNG. however, less than two months before an expansion completely invalidates the item is not one of those times.

If you want an efficient use of your time, get a poetics weapon, augment it, and then wait for HW to come out. Then, do the HW relic from the very beginning of the cycle. You will get much more enjoyment out of the work you put in that way.

This is the point where we can honestly say to new players "You already missed the train on the meat of ARR. Time to prepare to catch the train to HW."

i can only play 2 hours tops daily too me over a year to complete my relic as i stated b4 theres plenty of other weapons available instead of complainin how rng gods have curse you... 50+ runs alone it took me for av zodiac item not once did i Q.Q :P

Or they could make it not so horrible like the OP is requesting... Not my fault you chose to waste your only time off doing something so unfun. After that one day of doing it for 9 hours I stopped and didn't bother with it again as I realized I didn't want to waste my time on something so ridiculous.

If they made it manageable for everyone besides those who have no job (which, due to the economy... I can't judge people, cuz I know that feel of being a jobless loser with too much time on his hands), and people who decide to do the same awful activity everyday for a year (like say that outloud... "I spent a year to complete my relic..." That sounds awful...), I'd definitely be doing it and so would others. It sounds like that is what they may be doing for the expansion, and hopefully that's true. Otherwise it's just content to avoid.

608 days since Tuesday August 27 2013 - if you were playing since Launch. That's 1216 hours, which is about 50.67 days playtime.

Zodiac were released since December 9th 2014 - that's 138 days ago. If you were working on it Day 1, that's spending at max 276 hours.
Average, 30 minute queue and 30 minute dungeon is 1 hour per attempt at 1 dungeon.
So max max, without anything else in the game, your total could be 276 dungeon attempts for 16 drops. 1 of which was "50+" giving you 216 other dungeons runs at absolute time limits.
That's without anything else in the game.
I do know you have leveled all crafting classes to 50 in the past 5.x months however, so I *know* you have been doing other things than dungeons. You numbers don't add up.
So please, understand that for some, having the time you get to play isn't available to them. They pay the same money as you, and want to feel rewarded for their online time working towards goals.
