So it wasn't trolling after all...? I mean, it was like the perfect storm of sociopath SJW/Feminist ideology that I thought they were playing me for a fool for giggles because how I mentioned that those specific types of people make me angry... I'm kind of sad they were serious now.. such absolutely disgusting opinions of someone based entirely off their skin color and gender :\

    2 gil:

I want my AF to be lore-appropriate. I don't pretend to speak for the majority or minority, but I play these games for the story. Make the AF make sense to the class being played. So far, SE is doing a great job of it, imho.

As far as glamor gear goes, I don't care. Go naked. Go dressed like a chicken/furry/snowman. Knock yourself out.

Wow, way to lose all the credibility with one single sentense. How about you take this kind of attitude back to fuckin tumblr? Dunno about the others, but I concider "straight white cis men" human beings, but oh, who am I to judge a social justice warrior.

*sigh* I guess I should have added on "above everyone else". Though I would think that was implied due to what I was commenting on. My point is that "because this group of people want/like it so or should be done" is not a good reason for any thing. Especially if it ignores the wants/likes of other groups. So saying "Men don't want banana hammocks", which ignores men who like other men by the way, as a reason for not having them is not a good thing.

AF gear is iconic for the job and shouldn't be altered for the sake of fan service ala NIN and DRG AF sets.

It's fine for other gear, but not for AF. That's just my opinion

Would just to like to say that I've always found the its optional line subjective (in many categories, including this one). If for example I love crap music and you love craptastic, and you push for the later I will lose out on hearing more crap and I will either have to mute or "deal with" listening to your craptastic stuff. The actual option to ignore/not be part of is limited at best (single player games being quite different, "don't wear that DLC gear then" imo is a good argument lol). That doesn't mean you should stop wanting what you want though! (just that optional does not mean you won't have an effect on your/their experience). It may not be the fact that I hate your right to listen to craptastic stuff as much as I personally want no part in it so then it would follow some people /not/ be saying "yeah options!" and more like "more of my favorite options!", even if female skin does not bother them. Assuming this is all about nazi feminist or people who think women should be in a burka is not fair, imo. If it wasn't for the teen audience I wouldn't care if when you got naked you were literally naked, that doesn't change my other preferences on gear though. I imagine a response of "well you're just greedy then", but we all want something so maybe; although, it's not like either side is unique in their desire (except for the people who are like "I don't care", you fence watchers! ).

Of course it is important for SE to know and hear everyone's sides and little nuances, so I'm not saying silence.. just that I feel like there are some oversimplifications of a side that are not really fair or attuned to the person they are responding to. Like in another thread people keep saying similar things when the OP clearly stated they're not against sexy looking gear and glamour, but rather just that having a gender difference so blaringly different on a tank no less is bit like "seriously?".

But to be fair, there may actually be some people as described- just not everyone. Your boobs dont scare me, I just don't like what you like - and I'm going to want what I like more, and our opinions will have an effect on each other's experience (I generally go for equality and immersion sake, which are both "imo" topics in the first place lol).

SE (Yoshida) has already proven they will adapt within reason. "Never have any gear with skin showing, male or female (men have a number of skin showing armors, subligar anyone?)" is not going to fly with SE of course. "Please keep gear similar in type across genders and at least for important milestone gear keep it thematic to job and archetype" may actually be reasonable and to be honest it feels like SE does this mostly already (dragoon being a hot button example of when they don't), I don't imagine Dark Knight female will actually be skimpy (given SE's previous tank armors in particular, minus the glamour system tanks are really only offered armors designed for them that are quite protective or referenceable to reality (roman skirt)).

People act like it's a horrible thing for more and more of the population to start becoming annoyed or outraged by the hugely male-centric view in the world and especially within video games. How dare women (and men) be annoyed at always having female characters in games being treated as nothing more than a walking pair of breasts, and having no options other than scantily clad robes, scantily clad leather gear, or scantily clad platekinis. Yes, what a travesty it would be to the straight men of the world to have no almost-naked females to oggle and harass in an MMO.

Sorry if I don't shed any tears over how those sort of people feel. Maybe it's the fact I and many other women are tired of having no choice in character or armor besides "sexy" or "pedobait sexy".

Bottom line is, the AF gear should have very little differences in design between the genders. The DRG bellyhole and bard's shirtless vest were ridiculous and unneccessary, and many people would rather the DRK, Machinist, and Astrologian AF armor not go down that route again. Either make both gendered versions sexy, or make them covering. You can't have it one way for one gender and another way for the other.

We can't ignore one preference over another if we're talking about equality. Unfortunately that's not how the world works. Just because "Straight white men" are the vocal majority doesn't mean their view isn't less valid than anyone else just because you don't belong to that particular group. No matter what your preference is there will always be a group, represented or not, who dislike that preference. You just can't please everyone. Personally I don't like seeing scantily clad men running around because that's not my preference. Scantily clad women on the other hand... I have no problems with. But I'm not yelling at SE to take out all the armors that make men look like crossdressers. I deal with it because, like it or not, someone DOES like that look. If you don't like something, don't wear it. But if someone else is wearing it, just keep it to yourself unless they're somehow causing you pain. THAT'S equality.

Clearly SE disagrees with you. If you want to change this attitude, you should probably become a game designer and change the industry from the inside. That's the best way to go about it. For the most part the AF gear is the same regardless of gender. I wonder about the DRG Belly hole myself, but it doesn't bother me the way it seems to bother other people such as yourself. On a related note, most if not all of the caster gear comes in the form of robes which often look like dresses. Personally I do not find this particular aesthetic to my liking. I don't like it, but I don't start screaming on the forums about how it's somehow "Degrading to me and my status of manhood" to dress like that. If I really don't like it, I glamor out of it. Problem solved.

Not a fan of the DRG belly window, but that DRK look is pretty bad ass. Would love to see an option like that.
