Haha the world is gonna go against them if they can't speed run heal.
Sad truth but thats what the community has become.
So yea let them get you down but learn from it, thus shielding urself with knowledge = better healer.
I think what really helps as well is that Bard is my main, so when I do things as healer now I know what to expect. Like I've healed Ifrit normal mode a bunch of times now and I can't believe how easy it is, when I remember doing it as Archer and one time took us like 10 tries. I think healing would be super hard if you were doing it as your main class.
Its not. Its actually really easy. (I haven't done Coil so my knowledge comes from everything else)
So long as you know what you are there for and know that you are a healer, which you do since you chose it as your main, its super easy and really fun. Some people just don't have the thought process for what it entails, like others don't have it for DPS. Like me, I could never DPS. It looks frustratingly hard.
You should also look at the why. Every non Coil content is designed for max. iLvl90. So actually everyone is highly overgeared and already was it the moment, these content came into the game. That leads to overpowered healing output. Do a premade group and gear down to the iLvl minimum. You will notice the difference.
Also the difficulty of non Coil content is low and failure forgiving. That give you as a healer much air.

Well yeah. But I'm more talking about the lack of mechanics in non-coil content for healers. I've not done coil so I can't speak of any of that but for everything else healing is pretty easy (except AV how I hate thee). Even when I've been of the ilvl I've never really had any trouble.
Edit: Also, most content has a cap meaning you are playing it at around its recommended ilvl.

I mean the whole party at the minimum, not only you
As this game was new, we did play even the 4 mans at the lowest minimun as nobody had high level gear at the beginning. Its not compareable to today, where winning the jumbo cacpot has a higher chance than getting into a dungeon all 4 ppl at the lower end of the iLvl.
The cap is there because the content got already way to easy and would get much more easy.
The same reason why low level dungeons had level sync from the beginning.

I'm definitely getting much better at it now, just hit 32 and have unlocked white mage. Question though, you know how when you cast a spell, you can cast it again when the GCD is at like 75% and then as soon as the current cast finishes the next starts? I made macros for things like Stone and Virus which cast it on <t> and then <tt> so I can use one hotbar button to cast it directly on an enemy, or keep targeting the tank and cast on his target periodically. The only issue is when I use it as a macro you can't hit it again until it has completed casting so sometimes I've pressed it and nothing happens. Is that normal just because it's a macro?

Thanks yeah doesn't seem overly worth it to me! Also forgot to mention earlier I feel so dumb when someone mentioned that the arrows point up or down for good/bad buffs, I swear I looked for days making it so big to try and see any arrow unsuccessfully as I was expecting like some white arrow over top of the icon, then I realized the entire buff IS the arrow lol. So much easier now!!!!!
