Pretty sure its impossible to stop RMT without causing some sort of freedom taken away from players.

I don't think eliminating RMT altogether is what's being asked for here. We just want to not be bothered by spammers. Most measures (increased time between tells, require minimum level for /tell and /shout) would only be temporary fixes at best before the spammers get a work around.

If they added a right click > report spam that had an automated temp suspension tied to it once the number of reports against an account hit a certain threshold (it's important that it be by account as they swap characters so much) it would probably help even more.

It's possible to make it unprofitable for the sellers to advertise in game. Other games have done it.

Make it that blacklisting covers the account and not just that character, which would add accountability for any who make alt characters on the same account to troll. But yes, a one click report function needsd to be added that automatically sends all the releveant info, last communications, time stamp and server.

Many times I cba to go through all the report malarky and just Blist the spammer and move on. I won't be the only one either especially if you are busy with something else.

Pretty sure I have an extensive history over the last 10 years with WoW, Eve Online, Runescape, and many other MMOs which have had the same issues with RMT in the past. Every one of those games managed to bring it under control with only minor inconveniences to the playerbase. If they can do it, FF14 can do it too.

P.S. Sorry if I come off as rude, but it really bugs me when people act as though there is nothing that can be done. There is actually a lot that can be done with very few negative effects to the playerbase.

Example: Limit 5 tells every 20 seconds or something like that. It would slow down the spammers a lot, while only effecting a small portion of the playerbase. Not many people send that many tells that quickly for legitimate reasons.

A vast majority of the tells are from level 1 "players" as well. If they could just limit your ability to send a tell until you get your airship access or something it would solve a significant portion of this.

Or at minimum allow only 1 /tell every 5 minutes for players under level 10.
