Why do people always equate betraying and murdering royals/officials to ASoIF these days? This is not a new story concept invented by GRRM. Who probably knicked the theme from the War of the Roses.

Not "probably." Stark and Lannister == York and Lancaster.

I think in this case people are simply gravitating to the most popular in-genre comparison available (you'll also note most are talking about the TV series; book fans remember that the Red Wedding happened in the middle of A Storm of Swords).

Well because I never read that book/books but yes I agree betrayals have been happening forever in stories they are as old as the bible o.O Personally it reminded me of GOT since its a banquet style plus the amount of death/backstabbing and the absolute no help you receive from your honored allies who just drop you when it becomes inconvenient for them xD Also given the popularity of the show I gathered people would get the comparison even if they aren't readers ^_^

If you enjoy the televised version you should read the books. As there is a few "huh?" moments in what they have changed for the TV ^_^ Not a spoiler par se, but the new season has a MASSIVE change.

Yes I read the game of throne books and loved them aside from the fact it takes him nine years to release the next book haha ^_^ I was referring to the comment about War of roses doing that theme prior that book or books I did not read
