It's really steam that is the problem more that Square Enix in this case. I hate the way they handle games that require separate subscriptions like this. Their handling is horrible.

For me the dealbreaker was that the game doesn't even use Steam for downloading and installing patches, which is one of the major reasons I use it on other games so it can just do that stuff unobtrusively in the background. Between that and locking you into the Steam version forever, it's just plain badly implemented.

I have to admit it's pretty complex compare with WoW and Wildstar.
It takes me few days to figure it out how to do, I visit many forums and ask some friends before buying.

Lol. No it doesn't cost that much. Singapore has an importer that sells it for sgd$245 which is about usd$181.
