Rumor or not? 3rd free retainer with 3.0.

Another free retainer would be very nice atm I have 4 (paying for number 3 and 4). And we really Need more space. Maybe a chest in our private room? Think I am not the only one that stores many Items for Glamour
Maybe something like a wardrobe for Equiptment XD that would be nice.

Maybe they change it from "have 2 retainers for free, pay for 2 extra retainers" to "have 3 retainers for free, pay for 2 extra retainers"

This way who pay already for 1 or 2 extra retainers will still have 1 or 2 extra retainers more then those who only use the free retainers.

Or they change it to " have 2 free retainers, pay for 1-3 extra retainers"

I don't understand how people can fill up even 3 retainers let alone 4. I for one do not have a problem with inventory space, we get so much of it as it is and I do a heck of a lot of crafting. It's surprising how much junk some people hold onto, a stack of 5 iron ore which can be purchased from an NPC at any time for peanuts, a stack of 20 kukuru beans that costs 15gil each on the MB, then there's the small number of people that have 2-4 glamor sets for all 15+ jobs, why oh why?!

Recently, I do not recall where, it was stated that the game backs up every 15 seconds to prevent rollbacks if a server crashes, and that by increasing inventory size they risk increasing the 15 second backup time to the point where a crash can result in a rollback (and lost items, quests having to be redone etcetera). With that in mind, I would find it highly unlikely that they'd give everyone a free 3rd retainer and or increase inventory space to the amount the minority of players seem to need for their hoarding.

it's quite easy to fill up 4 retainers I have most of my retainers full of gear and crafting items some of it I don't use but why not hold on to it in case it's needed for future use.

I store a lot of crafting materials on my retainers. One holds all my food, food ingredients, fish, and fishing lures. One holds all my goldsmithing and metal stuff. One holds all my leatherworking and cloth stuff. And one is basically my gear closet. I try to keep all four retainers selling 20 items each, because that's how you make money in this game.

I'd not judge you for hoarding, if you didn't demand game resources and dev time be wasted on catering to the few of you that are incapable of managing your inventory properly. "Oh oh, I need more bag space so I can collect another 10 low level items, you know, not because I need that crap, but because I'm a collector!"

Even offering 5 per character wouldn't make up for it; one of the best benefits to having a 3rd retainer is that you get to sell stuff in each city. Even if 3.0 adds ishgard as a seperate market that's doable as is.

I know in 1.0 there were tax rates per city, but those were removed, weren't they? Is there any reason to have your retainers in different cities other than for the fun of it?

This is called judging with unsubstantiated claims.

Tax rates per city still exist. Two taxes are paid.

When you list something in Ul'dah for 100 gil, and someone buys it, you receive less than 100 gil, this is across-the-board tax.
Then, at the time of purchase, if the buyer was at Gridania or Limsa, the buyer pays an additional fee.

So if you look at an item listed at the same price from three different sellers based in each of the three cities, then buying from the seller that is in the same city as you are, will be cheaper. This in effect is extra profit or price advantage for the seller.
