(Speculation) Heavensward Opening CS: Is Ishgard Floating?

I think at some point in the pan around Ishgard it shows how the Steps of Faith is connected to the main city. That said, I do think it might be floating beyond the bridge.

Not sure how that works, but there's floating islands. Screw logic, that's cool.

Just went and rewatched it. Right before this scene it does show the Steps of Faith, but then the view goes through the clouds and comes back to the scene I grabbed. The transition seems odd to me, almost like a "time passes" or "something changed" feel.

Well, the "something changed" part is all the floating islands that we've never seen before. All we have now in game is just Ishgard sitting there, no floating islands in the sky around it. That's probably how it's supposed to feel, revealing the land(?)scape around it and pretty much making you go "oh sh*t."
