    Warrior Newb

Hey guys, having trouble deciding what gear to get. I have 1000 poetics currently. I'm ilvl 113, and have all Demon gear except for an augmented ironworks belt. My accessories consist of weathered noct chokers and wristlet, noct earrings and ring, and an augmented ironworks ring of fending. All 30 stat points in STR. HP is 10015 with Defiance on.
I would like to strength spec but I'm not sure if I should yet since slaying acc will lower my hp. Do you recommend getting ironwork slaying accesories, or go for fending acc or gear? Thanks in advance. Peace.

Poetic head and feet (+upgrade them). You will be hurting for accuracy with that much demon gear. Do your accessory side with platinum crafted + a couple of slaying accessories (poetic bracelet and earrings are both very good). Get rid of the fending accs asap. Even full i130 str accessories are fine, but the crafted nets you an extra 80-100 vit to play with.

Going to guess from his Lodestone that he's a pretty new player. No crafters or gatherers leveled, so HQ crafted accessories are probably out of his league price wise.

As for the gear, as Artair said, you want the Poetics head, belt and boots upgraded as they are you're BiS pieces. Also, unless you plan on doing FCoB all Poetic STR accessories is fine unless you have horrible healers or until you're more comfortable with the fights. If you have the money, though, you're best bet is getting the crafted Plat stuff and fully melding it so that you're getting the most benefit without losing too much VIT.

Your biggest concern is making sure you're at the ACC cap for the content you plan on doing. You can check ACC caps for all things Here.

Everything after that is just min/maxing to push as much from your class as possible.

Thanks for the info guys that's exactly the kind I was looking for. I'll start with the helm and boots and then work twords strength accessories. Your right I've only been playing for about 3 months so can't afford any of the crafted gear really. Thanks for the accuracy cap chart though!

Gearing is basically for the content. If you want just to increase iLvl, just to contents that would increase ur gear.

For hardcore raiding content, you need some of your stats to capped and it fairly depends on the gameplay you want.

So basically you need 558 accuracy for Final Coil of Bahamut and huge amount of HP something around 11k+ for beginners and 10,400 for advance.

So if you want to calculate your gear progression, you can Google : ff14 Ariyala. The site has gear calculator and I suggest you want to check it out.

Excuse me for raiding the thread (no puns intended).

But why do you want to cap ACC? Do you miss a lot in coils? So far, I haven't entered T5 yet and I already have my Ragnarok Zeta + full poetic gear. Is it enough?

Well any accuracy stat below the cap for the intended content has the possibility to miss, and the lower your accuracy below the cap, the greater the chance you have of missing.

Missing a hit as a tank can be extremely dangerous, especially if you miss that opening Tomohawk/Overpower or your first big enmity builder (Skull Sunder/Butcher\\'s Block). In later content and with competent DPS this missing would most likely cause their death, because they will out aggro you and the boss will turn around on them.

Basically hitting the ACC cap for the content you intend on doing should be your first and foremost priority. I personally would never consider going into content below the cap.

To answer your question, I don't know what your Accuracy will be in that gear, but you can check that for yourself by going into the Character Menu. Highest requirement currently is 558.

Capping accuracy means having enough to never miss for a certain fight. To get through all of Coil without missing as a tank, you'll need 558-ish. Missing at all is terrible not only for damage output but for enmity generation, meaning you'll lose aggro to others more easily.

On T13 WAR has few moments, when must build snap aggro with one shot (adds in phase 2 and 3). When this miss, game over. 558 ACC must be.
