I mean this sounds SUPER ridiculous even to me but if It's able to get him the feel by re-doing the dungeons once DRK is unlocked himself - it might be worth it.
How does this even help? They're talking about battles that can't be repeated, not things like dungeons or primals which can. Solo instanced battles. Doing stuff like defeating Roaille (the traitorous vice-commander of the Immortal Flames) and her Imperial allies can never be done as a Machinist, for instance.

What's really infuriating about the situation is that there's no good reason for it. SE COULD have placed the "mentors" for the new jobs in places accessible before doing Main Scenario (Astrologian at the Observatorium, for instance), but they apparently did not. It's also puzzling as to why any player would support the decision that was made - and yet there are many doing exactly that, in this very thread. Players defend it, saying, "It's not a big deal" or "We'll all be ready for it anyway", but no one has a good reason as to why gating the new jobs like this ENHANCES the FFXIV:ARR experience. Because it doesn't enhance anything: for current players, it's totally neutral, and for new players, it's a big negative.

Possibly the closest that could be said that would be a positive, is that it gives players something to look forward to - a reward for getting through all the story content up to Heavensward. It's not necessary that the jobs be that reward, though; there's plenty of other rewards that make a lot more sense, and do less to alienate new players (things like access to new dungeons, new areas, and new equipment).
