Picking up some comments I just saw, lets point this things.
1) As on the MSQ and the Trailer, the WoL didnt have his weapon.
2) Maybe choosing to fight would have made things worst. The WoL and the Scions didnt tried to run until the figured out that if they were capture, its most probable that would get killed.
3) The WoL and the Scions were really taken off guard by people they trust or that they thought that were not something to be worried about. Even the greatest warrior of all times, that slay lots of Gods, can be defeated if he is stabbed on his back by surprise.
4) Lot of people said that their WoL was super neutral on his emotions of the events that happened on 2.55. Well that "problem" has been fixed on the Heavensward trailer. We cleary see that the default WoL showing his emotions and anger, and he is us. Just imagine that all he experienced but on us which tenicly is what happened lol.
Rest in Peace.... silly Dragoon. No, thats the opening movie, not a trailer and that's the final version. They've been advertising it as such. Also, even in the CG videos, Square wont stop making fun of Dragoons. The CG Dragoons can't even land their jumps correctly. That one DRG got chomped on after his failure
That's what it looks like to me. I'm pretty sure its the lighting, as for the increased hair on the face, I know some guys that can grow out a big beard in a week
I'd hope they didn't resort to pre-rendering anything. I've seen other MMORPG's where they pre-render stuff just to show off how cool something is, but then when you get into it, no, it's far worse. Mister WoL stand-in only works because he's been there since V1.0... where's the rest of his party?

Note this Opening Cinematic is different from the one in the game (which is narrated)
Then there are the V1.0 OP's companions which appear in two separate scenes
And Midgardsomr is also in the V1.0 OP (when the airship was sent into the lake)... so I guess we're just coming around full circle on the stuff that was promised in V1.0 ha...
90% of the game content can be achieved with the in-game rendering. Once you unload the map and other characters in the area, you actually can squeeze out some pretty good CG, and with top-end cards, get some lighting that allows for some of this. We don't want to go back to FF7/8/9 style pre-renderings for every cutscene because that severely limits the player's customization. The only-pre-rendering you get now in MMORPG's are for opening, ending cinematics that do not-feature your characters, and the occasional "epic" CG sequence that doesn't involve your character. So yes, the Midlander male, Miqo’te female, Roegadyn male, Elezen female, and Lalafell female in the recent trailers are in fact the same ones that appeared in the 1.0 trailer! (Yes, the black mage is the Elezen female from the morbol party, not the snooty male from the Midlander’s party. The robe & hat conceal some of her more distinguishing features, and we all know there was no bust size adjustment feature back in 1.0).
The problem with pre-rending stuff is that you get promised epic looking stuff in the CG (see that Morbol fight in the V1.0 opening) and then are let down nothing like that actually being possible.

I actually quite like this spin, it put Mr Derplander into a "party" of other people (which we continue to see for the rest of the CGI Cutscenes) as if he's delved into a Fantasy. Where when he's sitting at the table talking to Mr Derpzen and Derpqote could be representing us as players. Yes they're set in their world still but that's how i like to interperate that whole 1.0 opening anyways =3 Makes it more fun to me.
add hair colors into the mix and you have over a million possible combinations EASILY.
Winter is coming!
Will you be ready?!
I feel like I'm in GoT now.
