Yeah it is interesting after WoW and AoC and all the other MMOs that have come out since XI, SE still is conservative with body types, age, ethnicity, and so forth and giving you very little customization over it. I'm not complaining, I think that sorta sets FF on it's own. But when you these character types next to some of the others out there, they do seem a lil boring and all too much alike. Hopefully if SE is full on their promise with XIV being more about character progression, you'll be able to customize your character further as you progress through the story. That would be a long way off, though, if it is what they meant. I dunno. =/

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I've asked for an EVE-style character creation system before. A player really needs to be able to customize his character. Being given a handful of mutually exclusive options just doesn't do it.
