The big spoiler in the Heavensward opening/trailer was a huge mistake. (spoilers obv)

For new players the 3.0 trailer is meant to entice them for them to go, oh this person dies, they look into it and go oh wow she is the leader of a nation, and then if they ask friends they will learn that the person being depicted, the hyuran is a representation of our player and how they are being blamed. They will be intrigued and want to see how this chain of events occurred so for new players they wouldn't be "spoiled" because it's meant to entice them to want to see how things turned out this way.

As for players who have been playing as mentioned countless times they warned players not to watch it if they haven't completed the 2.55 story yet because those are the players who have been following the story which would not want to be spoiled.

Basically the Trailer isn't spoiling new players it's enticing them, to get them interested in the game, to want to learn how those events came to be.

I'm pretty sure the game won't force you to watch it. They can probably just skip it if they don't want anything to be ruined for them.

It's either that, or SE will use the spoiler-free version on the title screen instead of the complete one. Honestly, it's up to them to choose which to implement. Or they might pull a Bravely Default and show the 2.0 opening cinematic if you are a new player, but then it switches to the 3.0 cinematic when you have at least one character that has completed the 2.55 main scenario quest chain.

I'm gonna be crazy and side with the OP on this one, as I'm really not sure why the 2 spoiler scenes really needed to be in the trailer. Seems to me they could have just started the trailer with the derplander walking across the bridge with his axe. Unless I'm missing something.

While it's not neccessarily a huge deal IMO, its another one of those "WTF were they thinking?!?" moments. But they did warn everyone multiple times there were spoilers in it.

Eh, I ain't mad about it. Honestly I just don't feel like debating with him which is why I openly said what I did. He got this opinion and I got mines and he is right to feel how he feels about anything in these forums but that's also vice versa and I am not going to debate between it because it's an opinion, neither is 'right' that's why they are opinions in the first place lol.

IMO this trailer is similar to any common movie promotion video, I don't feel anything wrong with it.
The 2 spoiler scenes would attracted un-subbed players' attention,
and it provides a concrete content for 3rd parties (ie. game magazine) to introuduce the change of ARR world.

Btw, just kidding, from SE view point, players use to "read a vid before a fight" or they are "doing it wrong",
so they should not have any problem to read a spoiler (this PV) before doing this story quest? ^^;
