For some reason, I don't think we'd stand a chance against an entire army of Brass Blades and Crystal Braves. Internal politics need to play out, things will be settled in due time. We don't have the blessing of light anymore, can't communicate with Hyd, we'd basically be trying to fight an army or muck around in political affairs we won't do too well in. Better that we're in Ishgard where we can actually help and prove ourselves to Midgardsormr while things play out in Ul'dah how they're meant to. A lot of people have forgotten very quickly that we're not in a very good situation at the moment, probably because the entire rest of the story has built us up as impossible to defeat but right now we're not really in those shoes.

I don't mind the fact that we can be forced to retreat. But the way they do it is horrible storytelling. As it is my fist responce once out of the city is to begin working towards freeing my allies and getting the monetarists out of power. SE has given no decent story reason why I would not. And this is disregarding the fact that the whole assasination plot forced the idiot ball into my hands when there where easy methods to get the same result without making Remedia a moronic coward that is apparently terrified of some Brass blades when earlier that day she was willing to tank a frickin dragon.

It's elementary school level storytelling. Or at least no one stopped and proof read this from the perspective of the player.

I imagine not having the blessing of light would really hurt when those Brass Blades start to cast Ultima.
