He has not; the cutscene you're thinking of is one where he comments on her mask, and she makes a big deal about not wanting to show her face for fear of negative reaction. So much for that I guess!
Always remember, please be careful.
Good ninjas don't get hit. Besides, pretty kunoichies make better espionage agents.

While translation is a large part of our job, what is not known by many is that the EN localization team plays a large role in the creation of a lot of in-game terminology and lore which is then localized back into Japanese (with liberties often taken by the Japanese team so that the text might appear more appealing to their target Japanese audience).

We as players know they are a draconic humanoid race because we have been outright told as such. The NPCs in game though quite possibly wouldn't automatically come to the same conclusion. Reptilian features to be sure but horns and scales hardly make you a dragon and the Au Ra are clearly not native. There are any number of races with animal features and except for glamour or complete transformations we haven't seen any humanoid dragons among the Dravanians.
My personal suspicion is that playable Au Ra are refugees from Othard. Yugiri did say that there were other ships apart from her own probably still out at sea. Have a few boat loads of Au Ra arrive and suddenly we have an Au Ra population on Eorzea.
Lore tidbit hidden in the LL thread:

A1: There are two clans: Au Ra Raen and Au Ra Xaela. Au Ra Raen have been closely related to the Domans for long time, so their names are somewhat Japanese-like. The Xaela on the other hand have led a nomadic lifestyle for some time, and they have a unique naming convention.

Well, at least I was right about the two clans having way different naming structures :V
I still wish I understood why they're playing Au Ra information so close to the chest. We're two and a half months from release, dudes! It's time to lay everything on the table! These people need to be introduced so they fit into the world!

Because they like to give infos one at a time to make people looking for(heavens)ward to it for these 2 months.Well, at least I was right about the two clans having way different naming structures :V

I guess I was right in thinking that one clan (where yugiri comes from) is more social and thus more, while another clan lives on the fringes of society/ more isolated.
I wonder how the Xaela naming will be? Seems like they'll atleast use more atypical letters like X
