Woe to the vanquished, mournful tear, glorious...Eternal King...Ah...Whom today we commemorate...I am the death of death.

Since the last duty requires IL90, I can assume that the first few Heavensward duties will be higher than that but not by much, possibly 95 - 100. It wouldn't make sense to make it any lower just because there will be lots of new players, otherwise we should have across-the-board IL synchs every time a patch is implemented.Lets say current high ilvl gear is useful for leveling in heavensward, how would the dungeons work. Are they going to be to where people with lower ilvl can have a chance to complete it? if thats the case than high ilvl people will outgear it, which is wierd for lvling. If its ilvl synced, than the current high ilvl gear isnt really all that useful.
Im kind of new an my ilvl is only 83 atm. Therefore, idk what the average ilvl people will be once they complete 2.55
I don't see a problem with people "outgearing" duties. IL130 isn't easy to obtain (at the moment), though 120 is (due to WoD). That said, if the Heavensward content is around 100 and the "high IL" is 120, that's not that big of a difference. Also, as noted before, the actual character level would matter more than the item level.
Lastly, might I suggest that you gear up to at least IL100 before you attempt Steps of Faith? You're a tank, as am I. We take lots of hits on Steps and if you keep dying, the rest of the party will get their faces eaten by the adds. That or get your friends to go with you so that you will be able to communicate more effectively instead of getting randomly-shouting strangers.

ilevel 130 gear will be enough until lv 60.
Sure, for an old player with 130 gear that mean that he is overgeared for the first dungeons, but don't forget also the new players.
For new players it mean that they can continue the story after 2.55 story without that they have to farm ilevel 120-130 gears first. They will close up to the ilevel 130 players during their journey to lv 60.
With heavensward starting at ilvl 90 i wouldnt expect current gear to be good for very long. I'd say equivelant to maybe lvl 55 green gear or lvl 57 white gear. You will probably be able to hit lvl 60 in it, but not rofl-stomping everything like you do now.
Once the expansion drops, soldiery gear will more than likely be phased out and replaced with uncapped poetics. So even new players will probably be walking into ishgard with a decent chunk of ironworks gear. The ironworks isn't going to be very good after the expansion drops.

i wonder what will happen to new players come heavensward...maybe SE boost AF armor to ilvl 90 (so fresh 50 can finish all the lvl 50 content)

It depend of if we earn poetic tomes still with level 50 or only after we reached the level cap again. Then the poetic gear will be what darklight gear was during launch.Once the expansion drops soldiery gear will more than likely be phased out and replaced with uncapped poetics. Honestly, this is a situation we've been living with for a long, long time already. Patch 2.1 comes out, and adds Hauke Manor (Hard), Copperbell Mines (Hard), and Pharos Sirius? The highest level gear blows those dungeons away. 2.2 brings Halatali (Hard), Brayflox's Longstop (Hard) and the Lost City of Amdapor? The highest level gear available before that patch continues to absolutely destroy the content.
Essentially, if your gear is top-of-the-line when new content comes out, you're going to be overgeared for the new content. That should be a surprise to no one. The only exception may be the high-level raids, as Coil was and as Alexander (Hard) will be - those raids are built with the expectation that you pretty much start at top-of-the-line, and build up your gear as you progress through the raid.
If you have any kind of sense of humor, you owe it to yourself to find and watch a movie called, "Airplane!" It's old, but still good.![]()
Also, there would have to be quest gear, right? Because let's say you completed 2.55. Many are gonna hop right on getting one of the new jobs. Are they going to have to farm lvl 50 content until they are high enough gear to get passed 50?. Unless it is true like some believe that high lvl 50 gear will drop down to ~ilvl 50.
Well I mean it's obvious there will be quest gear, there always had until lvl cap. but I mean maybe you don't have to have ilvl ~100 to start the next main scenario questAlso, there would have to be quest gear, right? Well i'd imagine inside ishgard there will be some kind of gear vendor to buy "white" or "trash" gear from, maybe something equivelant to ilvl 90-100. Again youll need to be ilvl 90 just to walk across the bridge, for the first time. So heavensward starts at ilvl 90 and goes up 10 physical levels from there.
